Photo Fokker E Types
Hello,
Currently for sale on ebay at: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Foto-Frankre...8AAOSwLIVeNrGs is a photo showing 4 Fokker Eindecker. The second from left appearing to be an E.IV. Can anyone identify any of the serial number? Regards, Clint |
Re: Photo Fokker E Types
Hello,
A photo of a Fokker E.III E.226/16 flown by Oswald Boelcke is currently available on ebay at: https://www.ebay.de/itm/161-Foto-BEL...wAAOSwYY1eVsiO Since initially posting this link I've received information offboard suggesting the serial is more likely E.245/16 and that the aircraft very possibly did not belong to Boelcke, but may come from FFA 9b. Regards, Clint |
Re: Photo Fokker E Types
Hello,
Today on ebay there is a photo of a Fokker E.IV captioned as flown by a Leutnant Baldanus at: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Foto-Flugzeu...8AAOSwV7ZecJQI I don't think the seller has the name correct which would appear to begin Bäldar, pehaps Bäldarius? Has anyone any thoughts on the pilots name with a possible view to identifying the unit? Edit. As a thought Hartmuth Baldamus?, though the first a appears to have a umlaut and it looks like a dot over the i before the S. Regards, Clint |
Re: Photo Fokker E Types
Hi Clint
I think what looks like two dots (very much off center above the initial a) actually is some smudging on the paper. Lt Baldamus both look and sound pretty OK to me. But hey, Clint, make a facial identity of the man. With such a sharp and top pixel sharpness, it must be a piece of cake....:D (Ooops, tongue stuck in my cheek this time....) Cheers Stig |
Re: Photo Fokker E Types
Hi Stig,
I believe I'll actually have the piece of cake rather than attempt to resolve the image.Sounds more pleasurable. And plausible. I tend to concur and even having identified Baldamus, at the end of the day without something to narrow down the date KEK Vouziers,KEK AOK 3 and Jasta 9 all remain possibilities for the unit. So no progress there. Also I note having checked I don't have a single Fokker serial where Hartmuth Baldamus is known to be the pilot. Might I also recommend some form of alcohol to losen your tongue from its cheek. Regards, Clint |

Hello,
Currently on ebay is a photo of Fokker E.II E.89/15 at: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Flieger-Pilo...EAAOSwQgxfHuqV I'm wondering if the Max Bellmann is the person the letter is addressed to rather than the person shown. Regards, Clint |
Re: Photo Fokker E Types
I would say so Clint
There must be a limit to individuals narcissistic tendencies, don't you think? :) First have his picture taken, make into a post card and then on top post it to himself? Feels better if it is a pilot friend of his. But who knows?? :) Cheers Stig |
Re: Photo Fokker E Types
Stig,
Indeed seems very unlikely, just covering all angles. I'm therefore hoping someone either recognises the pilot or the wheel decorations as I've not previously seen a photo of E.89/15. The second volume of Josef Scott's Fokker compendium has a photo of E.77/15 with the same wheel markings but alas as that's captioned as being repaired at the Fokker factory its not much help in determining the unit. Edit Following contact with Josef Scott I can know say that E.89/15 was operated by KEK Cunel. Regards, Clint |

Re: Photo Fokker E Types
Hello,
Currently on ebay are two photos of Fokker E.IV machines, one with a stripe on the cowling,or is it a shadow? being captioned as flown by Anslinger at: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Foto-Jasta-F...oAAOSwwfdf25DG Regards, Clint |
Re: Photo Fokker E Types
Hello,
I've had this response from Josef Scott to the post above: Yes, it is Anslinger's Eindecker, but it is an E III, not an E IV. He had the additional holes cut in the cowling. Greg VanWyngarden had described this aircraft to me, but this is the first time Ive seen it.Josef adds that the aircraft shown is E.363/16. Regards, Clint |
Re: Photo Fokker E Types
Hello,
Currently on ebay are a series of photos of Fokker Eindecker of FEA 7 or more likely KEA Cöln including the first E Type E.I E.1/15 at: https://www.ebay.de/itm/J11-Foto-FEA...sAAOSwI~df6ZQ8 https://www.ebay.de/itm/J15-Foto-FEA...QAAOSwsaRf6ZsV https://www.ebay.de/itm/J16-Foto-FEA...oAAOSwV4xf6Zts Regards, Clint |
Re: Photo Fokker E Types
Hello,
Subsequent to posting the Fokker photos in the previous post in this threas I have received the following information from Josef Scott I have to say I'm a bit hazy on the differences between FEAs and KEAs myself. I can't recall seeing any of the airfields such as Köln, Großenhain, Graudenz, etc. referred to as anything other that FEAs. However, Mannheim and Köslin (among others) were KEAs. Will have to make some inquiries. The photo of Fok E.I 1/15 is pretty well known, although this is a great print of it. The pilot is always identified as Otto Parschau. There are many photos of Parschau & Fokker with early Eindeckers at Köln, so it seems to have been something of a proving ground for new designs for them. I think the other 2 photos are of the same E.I – same location, same time frame, same type and they both have that big box barograph attached to the rigging wires, not a common accessory. Regards, Clint |
Re: Photo Fokker E Types
Hello,
Currently on ebay is a photo of a Fokker E.II E.87/15 (?) of Kampfstaffel Trier at: https://www.ebay.de/itm/J300-Kampfst...0AAOSwvfBf-Xxx Regards, Clint |
Re: Photo Fokker E Types
Tricky this one Clint
To me it seems it either says E187.xx or EI87 which really don't fit the bill unless the E.I went a little bit further then the so far established 85/15 Cheers Stig |
Re: Photo Fokker E Types
Hi Stig,
I have to say that I pretty much see the same as you. That is I can only see the single I . I'm glad we both see 87, since I haven't ruled out editing this at some stage and replacing it all with E.I E.57/15.I've already, unsurprisingly let Josef Scott know that the photo is on ebay and hopefully between the three of us we can reach an agreed conclusion to what we're seeing.Do you think it could be 57 and not 87? Regards, Clint |
Re: Photo Fokker E Types
I was in a rush before to watch the News on the Tele :o
I have now blown up the photo and I think you could be very much correct. The former digit 8 takes more and more on a striking resemblance to a digit 5. Perhaps we can settle about E.I 57/15? Certainly works for me.... :) Cheers Stig |
Re: Photo Fokker E Types
Hi Stig,
Funny coincidence about the TV. I've just been taking in a couple of hours of french culture myself. Anyhoo, back to the Fokker. I've had a response from Josef and he came up with Fokker E.I E.57/15, given that I'd avoided mentioning the serial, I guess we can all agree on E.57/15. The only downside, I still don't have any unit associated with Fokker E.87/15. So hopefully something turns up soon. Regards, Clint |

Re: Photo Fokker E Types
Hello,
I received a reponse from Josef Scott on the crahed Fokker in the post above this one. He wrote: In this photo, the wn almost looks to be 332, which would probably be E.II 81/15. Maybe. |
