Hi All,

we have a foto of a Fieseler Storch, which cannot be assigned to the Luftwaffe or else.
The only sign that remained on the wrackage seems to be a number.

And can be roughly seen on the complete Fieseler in Norway too.
See the pictures with arrow.

Any ideas what these signs stood for?? Used by Luftwaffe only ??

On the second image my guess it would be the reduced sized unit identification code used in the later part of the war. The unit emblem I do not know, but if this was identified then you would know the unit identification code. The first image is too small and vague to give any answer.

I'm sorry, but your first picture is so small and blurry it's hard to tell what I'm looking at. How can you tell it's an Fi-156? Is the aircraft upright or upside down?

To my eyes the code reads as K3+BF, and the location may be somewhere in Norway.

I re-read your appr. info and let you know my facts.
One year ago I was handed out a foto of a wreckage on the Stubai Galcier Tirol, Austria. The foto was taken in Sept. 1952.
Minor parts are still to be found and the rumor always said it was a Storch.
My aviation interest was to find out day of crash, fate and day of crash, name of pilot....
Nothing could be found anywhere. Only the date on foto made me wise, it was before 1951. By Chance I discovered the little sign on the wreckage and on the Fieselr from Norway under German Luftwaffe.
I am glad that you confirm these little markings as true aviation signs and not as an accidental white patch. Even an attempt to read the number out, I did not expect this. Thx. My conclusions are: it was a German Luftwaffe Fieseler, crash during wartime. Not a training and rescue plane after war, 1945 to 1951.
I mentioned already, not data, no sources.. Typical for Luftwaffe crashes!
I assume the pilot was killed.

You will notice that there is a "V" brace in the airframe above the pilot.

I think it's possible that in your photo the aircraft is actually laying on its left side and we are looking down thru the top of the aircraft. The oil tank is visible, which sits above the engine.

There are several Fi-156's still flying world wide. Some are original German airframes and others are French Criquets re-engined with an Argus.
The photo of the flyer is Kermit Weeks in Florida, USA. He has various Youtube videos of his Fi-156 and his numerous other aircraft.

many thx for your important answer to my burning questions. Maybe others found your knowledge on Fieseler interesting too.!

When I had published my newpaper article on the Fieseler search, i received an answer that mage me jump.

Yes, the original Fieseler on the Stubai glacier shortly after the crash,-forced landing, or-belly landing. Nothing about the pilot´fate, yet.
Incredibly good luck for the final research on plane parts on the Stubai glacier, Tirol, Austria.
