I have not yet seen any SAML S.2 in the serial range S.40** and Gregory Alegi in WDF 113 states that no complete serial range has been found. Has anyone else any SAML serials in the S.4087 to S.4136 range?

This machine is known to have served with 111 Squadriglia, but very possibly other units too.Is anyone aware of any?

I wonder when the incident actually took place?
First photo I have shows 2.8.1917 but this one say 26.7.1917....

It is possible that neither of those dates are correct:) Gentilli has a date of 14.08.17 for the crash of that machine. Assuming that the photographs show the same incident to which he refers. Which they might not.

I have corrected the date listed on the two photos and now think they may indicate
the date the photos were filed.

Two incidents with the same aircraft, one week apart and a third when w/o 12 days later?

A bit too much for my liking....but who knows?
