Bf 110 , april 7 1940 , ZG 2 crash

I would need your help concerning a crash Bf 110 C in Beaumont -en-Argonne.On 7 april 1940 ,a formation of Bf110 C of I/ZG2,led by Hptm.Hannes Gentzen,fought again with the French;Gentzen shotdown a Curtis H-75 of GC 1/5,while the French fighters claimed two Bf 110 C , The crew Feldwebel Muller and Neumann from Staffel 2 were killed , Would you have any information about this aircraft, Werk number, code ?

Messerschmitt Bf110C. Shot down in combat with Curtiss H-75s of GC I/5 and Moranes of GC III/6 south of Sedan p.m. Possibly that claimed by S/Lt Warnier of GC I/5 at Beaumont-en-Argonne. FF Fw Kurt Müller and BF Gefr Herbert Penkert both killed. Aircraft 100% write-off.

No Bf 110 loss of a crew member named Neumann on this day.

The other I./ZG 2 loss was as follows:
Messerschmitt Bf110C. Shot down in combat with Curtiss H-75s of GC I/5 and Moranes of GC III/6 south of Sedan p.m. Possibly that claimed by Lt Dorance of GC I/5 at Stonne. FF Lt Johannes Kiel baled out and captured unhurt, BF Unterfw Werner Ehm killed. Aircraft 3M+AL 100% write-off.

Hello thanks very much for information, have You the code 3M .... for first Bf 110 aircraft crashed near Beaumont - en Argonne ? , last week i visited the crash site and found some parts with the original paint

What I posted is all the information I have. Being a 2./ZG 2 machine, the best shot at the fuselage code would be 3M+(?)K.

According to The Battle of France Then and Now by Cornwell, Leutnant Johannes Kiel (20 victories, RK, killed in action 29 January 1944) was flying Bf 110 C (W.Nr. 3205) when shot down on 7 April 1940. One source that I have seen states that this was a Bf 110 C-2. I hope this helps.

The book that I mentioned in the previous post states that the tactical code was "3M + AL" as Vasco mentioned in his reply. Could that photograph depict the remains of the second aircraft or perhaps of some other incident?

Hi , in the book ,it is probably marked,i visited the crash site in Baumont ,it is in the forest,Here is a piece of engine cover clip

The code is not 3M+LT. ZG 2 did not have a III. Gruppe (i.e. nor a 9. Staffel).

And the photo you posted - you do know that the fuselage is on its back? That is not the last two of the fuselage code you can see, but the first two. More likely, the unit code 'L1'.
