Re: Photos German Aircraft
Hello,
Currently on ebay is a photo of a collection of trainer aircraft, not Nordfrankreich, not 1918 at: https://www.ebay.de/itm/J493-Frankre...AAAOSwaWFgBqqO The largest number of the aircraft appear to be DFW B.I, along with at least two Aviatik and one Albatros B.I The serials are not exactly clear. With a view to identifying the unit can anyone identify any of the serials shown, and I use the word shown loosely? Regards, Clint |

Re: Photos German Aircraft
Hello,
Currently on ebay is a photo of a rare bird a Lendner Doppeldecker at: https://www.ebay.de/itm/154693442982...0AAOSwP9Zhi4ML Not much on the machine in Typenhandbuch Luftfahrttechnik and no reason to suppose there was any military interest, though the officer in the photo is intriguing.. In any evennt the designer Leo Lendner was killed when the machine crashed on 07.07.1913 . Regards, Clint |

Re: Photos German Aircraft
Hello,
Currently on ebay are a collection of photos of aircraft and personnel of FA (A) 298b at: https://www.ebay.de/sch/m.html?item=...g+298&_sacat=0 Albatros B.II B.305/?? looks rather unusual. The crosses on the upper wing do not appear to match and possibly one of the wings has been replaced with that of another machine at some stage?: https://www.ebay.de/itm/393725575498...oAAOSwk3JhnnDT Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Clint It's an unpainted replacement part but the cross (small and inboard) is Austro-Hungarian style; maybe from a contracted-BII ? (B.I in Austria)
The serial on a white block is typical of trainers. Nick |

Re: Photos German Aircraft
Hello,
Currently on ebay is a photo of an Aviatik P.14 : https://www.ebay.de/itm/394991108867...QAAOSwRe9lTnFA It has the numbers 151 below the cockpit. I'm unsure if this relates to the army Bestell Nr. number or perhaps more likely a manufacturers number. Having said that a P.14 152/13 is known to have existed, but that number is visible on the rudder which is not visible here.Has anyone an id for the aircraft types B.149/13 & B.150/13 as this may (or may not) help. Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Tricky Clint
Since there are no military markings as such visible I would say what we see is a WNr rather than a BNr. Cheers Stig |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Hi Stig,
Thanks for the reply. As you'll deduce from my last post, I'm inclined to agree with you,not least because there's no /** after the 151. That said, I don't think that the fact that we can see no military markings on this early machine/photo is a clincher. I'm not sure if you own a copy of Aeronaut's Aviatik Aircraft of WWI,but if so take a look at the photo P.4 (1st edition) there is a photo of B.99/ in a hanger with no markings visible on the fuselage or upper wings. Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
I agree Clint
The problem with these early photos (well almost everything sold on e-bay) are we simply lack both dates and places, so all we can do is to make a "best guess". I usually myself date photos like this as "pre-delivery" since I don't think the German Army flew around for long with aircraft lacking national markings at least not post 1913. The further on we get in time (1914 and on), I believe the manufacturers painted up these Army markings directly before delivery, including the Bestellnummer. The problem with these early photos are we lack not only dates/places but also much other data. For instance I have no idea where WNr 151 was going. To the Army or Aviatik's own school? Since I am in New Zealand right now I cannot check any books or other data from back home....:o Cheers Stig |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Hello,
Currently on ebay are a number of (rather small) photos of German aircraft as follows: Zeppelin-Staaken RML.I https://www.ebay.de/itm/225892647902...8AAOSwQCplZlH~ LVG C.II 4295/15 https://www.ebay.de/itm/225892646001...gAAOSwBbxlZlGF Euler B.II B.137*/15 & Aviatik C.I (Han) C.600/16 https://www.ebay.de/itm/225892644756...EAAOSwMRZlZlKb Presumably, more to follow when the seller notices that many items are posted showing the rear of the photo? Hello,
Currently on delcampe is a rather nice photo of a AEG J.I of FA (A) 207 https://www.delcampe.net/fr/collecti...921710285.html For a small number of photos related to the same unit see https://www.delcampe.net/fr/collecti...s%5B%5D=122548 Regards, Clint |

Hello,
Currently on ebay is a photo of Euler Doppeldecker Wnr 189 https://www.ebay.de/itm/296100777186...QAAOSwP5tldaP9 While the sellers watermark does detract from the quality of the photo, I thought it worth posting given its rarity. Regards, Clint |

Re: Photos German Aircraft
I am always happy to receive replies to my posts. However, this explicitly does not include posts from yourself.
As we see from your post on 24th december on the thread titled Allied interest http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showth...49458&page=292 the fact that you post links with no further information leads to serious errors on your part. The aforementioned post received in excess of 12,500 views following my notification that it was posted to the wrong board. But no need to thank me,it is the season of giving after all... Nor is this an isolated example. Please look at the first page of that thread where Snautzer posted information for his links and consider the worth of his posts compared to the worthlessness of yours.Snautzer started an interesting thread you have ruined it with your useless posts. The decline in quality is evident at a glance.I think about what I post whereas clearly you do not. Therefore I think it completely reasonable to reject any input from you on this or any other threads I have started, not just on this board but on any and all. |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Hello,
Currently on ebay are a series of photos of German aircraft captioned as being at Posen. Re: Photos German Aircraft
Quote:
the help of Kees Kort whose knowledge about such things far outstrip my own feeble trials and mostly errors anyway.... :) The so called Friedrichshafen FF.6 is particularly interesting, since Jack Herris is the only author suggesting it ever existed! No German historian has anything to say about any FF.6 Checking his files Kees has come to the conclusion these photos are of an Albatros pre-war two-seater that Albatros themselves called Militär-Doppeldecker. The Bestellnummer was rather B.203/13 than /14 The identity of what is listed as Albatros-Breguet B.50/12 is possibly the aircraft bought by Albatros in 1912 directly from Breguet. It should be noted that Albatros did not acquire a license from Breguet until 1913 and it is unknown if they actually built any. Photos published just may be the original (Renault engine) later rebuilt with an Argus one. The Aviatik is quite correctly that and was dubbed Aviatik Schuldoppeldecker at the time. Cheers Stig |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Hi Stig,
You want to see limitations, check out some of my earlier problems with Albatros D types. But thanks for your efforts in getting input from Kees. As the saying has it when the evidence changes,my opinion changes. So my spreadsheets have been amended accordingly. An interesting point about only Herris. This highlights I think the need to show sources. Unfortunately all we can see from the Aeronaut book is that the photo is from the Peter M Bowers collection. I now Completly concur having ironically enough, checked Aeronauts Albatros vol.1 that the machine B.203 is the Militär-Doppeldecker. Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
When it comes to aircraft pre 1920 Kees is simply a Rock with his vast knowledge.
I am very happy (and honored) to get his help! Cheers Stig |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Hello,
Currently on ebay are a series of photos of German aircraft, somewhat marred by the watermark, but interesting nontheless I think Foreground and Euler B.I from the batch B.403/14 - B.419/14 in the background Aviatik P.14 B.148/13 possibly from FEA 10. https://www.ebay.de/itm/296157383184...YAAOSw-vVlno6F There is another shot of an Euler at https://www.ebay.de/itm/296157379980...QAAOSwAihlno5g An Aviatik https://www.ebay.de/itm/296157378520...gAAOSwtYJlno4w Having mentioned FEA 10 this LVG is from FEA 3 to judge by the marking. Confusing https://www.ebay.de/itm/296157376281...0AAOSwlm1lno1- There are then some shots of Aviatik B.II B.1327/15 presumably taken during the pilots operational career. As part of Armee Abteilung Gaede https://www.ebay.de/itm/296157384528...gAAOSwy1tlno8G https://www.ebay.de/itm/296157383933...4AAOSwLrFlno7U https://www.ebay.de/itm/296157411949...sAAOSwQe9lnpGi Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Clint
The Aviatik B.1327/15 is already out there somewhere on the 'net. When downloading it I wrote down it was stated as being with FEA 10 and the accident was at Böblingen in 1915 Cheers Stig |
Re: Photos German Aircraft
Thanks Stig, I did have that too,but was thrown by the fuselage bands. On the upside, this caused me to undertake a search and I found this site, which I hadn't seen before and it has a better quality image of B.1327/15 and much else as well
