Messerschmitt Memmingen Erprobungsberichte
 

Between June 1944 and February 1945 Messerschmitt Memmingen issued a series of 15 Erprobungsberichte dealing with ironing out some of the remaining issues with the Bf 109. I have found a couple of these reports on T-2 microfilms and have been helped by the English (as opposed to the Canadian) researcher David Brown with a couple more.

Between us we have found the following Berichte: 2,3, 6, 12 and 15. The quality of course reflects the quality of the microfilms.

As these will be of interest to a number of researchers, I have put these up on WeTransfer for download.

From T-2 microfilms, the following reports can also be found:
- Me 109 Erprobungsbericht Nr. 4 u. 5 v. 28.7. bis 24.8.44
- Me 109 Erprobungsbericht Nr. 7 u. 8 v. 8.9. bis 5.10.44
- Me 109 Erprobungsbericht Nr. 9 v. 6.10.44 bis 19.10.44

Since no. 15 was the last report issued, missing are thus nos. 1, 10, 11 and 14.

Me 109 EB Nr. 4/5 can be found on reels 2278 and 8280, Nr. 7/8 on reel 2665 and Nr. 9 on reel 2105.

Two terms from these reports that I'd appreciate help with:

Flügel mit neuer V-Stellung = wing with new [what?] position/setting. Elsewhere in the reports “V-“ means “Versuchs-“ but I’m not if that’s what’s meant here.

Schraube Holzleitwerk = literally "screw wooden tail unit" = screwed together?

"V-shaped position" of the wing = dihedral angle of wings
"screw" = seems to describe a special screw type necessary to build the wooden tail unit. Important in connection with humidity and the conditions in open air. Remember the glue problems of the Bf109 tail unit
