Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Some old, some new Clint
Never seen the Bre 693 before. Any truth in what the flip side says? Feels unlikely to me.....but.....? Cheers Stig |
Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Hi Stig,
It mentions Fw 190/Bf 109 at the top. Is it they that should be employed on the eastern front. Stll makes no sense of course. Why even is anything about either fighter on the rear of a photo of Bre.693 aircraft. I haven't seen anything about Bre.693 in German service outside a couple of training units and likewise two Luftdienstkommandos. Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Indeed Clint
I cannot see why Luftwaffe should utilize any captured aircraft in a front line capacity unless forced to do so by circumstances. Somehow I get the feeling the flip side here belongs to a different photo.... Cheers Stig |

Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Clint,
You do realize that edwest2 and others have been posting e-bay pics with links here for a number of years, yes? Rather than being critical of others posting the same links as yours, maybe you should consider adding your findings to that ongoing thread? Don't get me wrong, I'm sure most of us appreciate your work. I certainly do. But again there is a long-standing thread for same. And there are certainly missed items not in that thread, and your additions would very much welcomed there I'm sure. I usually tend to look for e-Bay items on my own using https://picclick.de/ and a number of queries using that app that I've found pretty inclusive over the years. But there are always a few items that escape notice and generally show up here or elsewhere. http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=49508 |
Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Hello Jim
Thanks for your response.I respect your right to search where you will for your information. However, I believe the central point of my last post is elided, it requires merely common politeness to check whether other posters have already posted a link, let alone a series of links, indeed that it what teamwork looks like. You recommend that I post on an already existing thread. Again if you are happy to do so, then I accept that that is the right choice for you. However, my own view is that the standard of the posts in that thread falls below a level I find acceptable, therefore the duration of the existence of that thread is not a relevant criteria in deciding where I will post and I will not be posting on that thread. Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Hello!
@Clint, ZS 2 is only one possibility for the Ar 96 **+YY. Also possible: 2./ ZG 101 Laupheim 20.03.44-01.06.44 III./ZG 101 Laupheim 01.06.44-26.07.44 JG 113 Laupheim 15.07.44-15.10.44 II./JG 106 Laupheim/Risstissen 15.10.44-22.04.45 Surely this list is incomplete! There will be many more! I found 8 entries to Ar 96 **+YY at www.stammkennzeichen.de. The at Ebay shown picture was taken before 17.12.1944,because on that day the old city of Ulm was nearly complete destroyed by a bomb raid. Herzliche Grüsse aus Oberschwaben, Wolfgang |
Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Hello,
Thanks Wolfgang. I only went with ZS.2 as the same seller had on offer at the same time some photos of Bf 110s (see above),at least one of which was a possible ZS.2 machine, but on reflection, no doubt you are correct and if I had more information they too can be shown to have flown with several possible units. Meanwhile on 06.02.21 here are some more trainer photos from the same seller: Praga E.241 NG+ZC https://www.ebay.it/itm/FOTO-BEUTE-F...0AAOSwmLpgHuky Focke Wulf Fw 44 BB+EJ https://www.ebay.it/itm/FOTO-FW-44-F...gAAOSwbjNgHuRI Regards, Clint |

Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Hello,
Currently on ebay is a photo of a Gotha Go 145 TI+HT at: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Fotos-Flugze...gAAOSw-r1gIoVk Its captioned as being in Sicily. It has a E-Stelle Rechlin related Stkz, and I assume the aircraft is shown there? Alternatively is it known to have served in Italy? The seller has a set of three photos of Italian aircraft: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Fotos-Flugze...cAAOSw4uBgIoYl Perhaps this has led to the confusion? Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Clint
TI+HT has been recorded as both the Fi 167 V1 and a Go 145 (both used by E-stelle (See) Travemünde). I can't see any reference for the Go 145 though and somehow I get the feeling this one you have found is actually TL+HT (TL+HS was a known Go 145....) But as usual I am open to corrections.... :) Cheers Stig |
Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Hi Stig,
I did consider TL+HT, but Stammkennzeichen.de has it as a Bf 108 B-1 recorded with several units. Like yourself I'd seen the TI+HT used in conjunction with the Fi 167 V1 in among other sources German Secret Flight Test Centres (I should have put Travemünde not Rechlin though - bad record keeping on my part).I the went to: https://web.archive.org/web/20140508...rg/stam-t.html which does have both the Fi 167 and Gotha Go 145 under TI+HT and the latter is marked under photographic evidence with a 'green rectangle'. Also,as you'll be aware both TI+HU and TI+HV are jnown to be Go 145. So, like yourself, I'm open to corrections:), but for the moment sticking with TI+HT as being the Stkz shown. Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Aha
Well I cannot access the Stammkennzeichen.de so I don't know why TL+HT has been listed as a Bf 108 with them. But, if Luftwaffe could record two aircraft (TI+HT) with the same STKZ then they could just as well record two aircraft as TL+HT :) Once you begin to doubt the single use of every STKZ issued then you can begin to doubt every STKZ where, in a photo, you cannot see the complete letters.... I am sure someone with access to relevant FB will step in and say what it really is we are looking at. Cheers Stig |
Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Hi Stig,
Yes, I think Tony Jones questions whether all Stkz were used only once and he's been looking at them a long time. My horoscope today advised against offering strong opinions and I've already done that once in this thread:). Predictably, nonetheless I would like to ask if a photo has ever been seen showing Fi 167 V-1 as TI+HT rather than the more usual D-OCML. If it has that would be important. On the LEMB Stkz database Peter van Gogh, as you will have seen, noted the conflict in the allocation of this Stkz, but also the existence of a photo for the Go 145, which may be the one I've linked to I suppose. As matters stand while there is no resolution the stronger evidence is for the allocation of TI+HT to a Go 145. I would recommend you sign up with Stammkennzeichen.de. Wolfgang recommended it to me, I believe in this thread, a few days ago and its been very interesting to browse. But yes very much looking forward to some info from a FB if available. Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Indeed Clint
I tried once to join, but was evidently not considered of any importance. Not doing that mistake again.... Cheers Stig |
Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
H Stig,
Yes, I tried joining about 10 years ago or more, and no result - no reply. However, pretty straightforward this time, just an overnight wait. Natürlich, if you feel offended as a result of last time and not inclined to bother, that would be completely understandable. Regards, Clint |
Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Ha, ha Clint :)
No worries, very little offends me these days. I wasn't offended back then either, but since I tried a couple of times and realized in the end I was wasting time. Since I was still working time was premium, hence I gave it up. But if you say it has become much more friendly, perhaps I give it a try?... Cheers Stig |

Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Hello, Clint,
I wonder where the seller, is finding all these pictures ?? Probably they are in their majority rather new no ? Rémi |
Re: Photos Luftwaffe Trainers
Hello Rémi,
Yes its a little unusual isn't it, and its gets odder. If the setting https://www.ebay.it/sch/i.html?_from...biplano&_oac=1 is used it is possible to see all the photos of Luftwaffe aircraft currently shown on the .it version of ebay. What is interesting is that the same seller is using two different ids ro3737, which is what i've been posting hitherto and antik2627 as for example in the photo of the Hs 123 RG+NK. Whether random or not, more of the photos associated with the second id are familiar. Weird no? Also, though I wasn't aware until conducting further research, the same user is on the .fr version of ebay. Using the same principle many Luftwaffe aircraft on ebay.fr can be found by entering https://www.ebay.fr/sch/1/i.html?_fr...Desc=0&_sop=10 Naturally, this spiked my curiosity and I tried the same operation with ebay.de. https://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_from...=15502&_sop=10 Although this shows most Luftwaffe photos on ebay.de curiously enough, the seller appears under neither user name on ebay.de. However, this was a useful exercise as I can now offer to save time for members of TOCH looking for Luftwaffe related photos by using one or all three of these links: https://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_from...=15502&_sop=10 https://www.ebay.it/sch/i.html?_from...biplano&_oac=1 https://www.ebay.fr/sch/1/i.html?_fr...Desc=0&_sop=10 It is therefore no longer necessary to follow posts with numerous individual links, but no added value in terms of information and instead just use one or all of these links each time you wish to search for Luftwaffe photos. Regards, Clint |
