II./KG 100 30 Sep 43
Six aircrew were captured after being shot down attacking shipping off Corsica; were any 'K' Reports or similar filed for these?

Re: II./KG 100 30 Sep 43
I'd reckon your best bet would be the CSDIC Interrogs in AIR 40/3117.

Re: II./KG 100 30 Sep 43
According to all my sources, two aircraft of II./KG 100 were shot down off Corsica that day. Roba's KG 100 book give the crew and lists 7 MIA and 2 POW. The book "Pilotes français sur l'Afrique du Nord et la Corse" says that three POW were interrogated:
Uffz Franz Bauer (23 years old), flying enginner/air gunner (listed as MIA by Roba) Uffz Hugo Kratz (23), flying enginner/air gunner. Joined KG 100 in JUly 1943 in Cognac, fought on Eastern Front in 1942 Obgfr Arno Widra (21), radio. His aircraft was sent to take pictures of the raid and did not carry bombs (Roba said that he was lying). This book does not list his sources for the above. |

Re: II./KG 100 30 Sep 43
Chris, I have two Do 217 shot down in Ajjacio area and a third damaged and crashing at Istres on return. According to MAW04 the latter was only damaged at 25% Do you have the same ?

Re: II./KG 100 30 Sep 43
I am just replying to your thread on the Allied forum, and I said that the Ju 88 claimed is not identified. I will be interested to know if you have a confirmed loss for it.

Re: II./KG 100 30 Sep 43
I have:
1.(F)/33, Ju 88 D-1, 1451, 8H+KH Uffz Baldur Umlauf-F- + Oblt Hans Ebert-B-+ Uffz Hans Tischer-BF- + Gefr Gerhard Krempig-BS-+ BF's Ausweis was found in the wreckage which confirms identity |
Re: II./KG 100 30 Sep 43
Thanks for the crew list. None of them are listed in Volksbund. One of my books seems to say that the Ju 88 crashed on land, and the fact that the wreckage was searched seems to confirm that, but I have no idea if bodies were found and what they became.
As a side note, the book "Pilotes français sur l'Afrique du nord et la Corse" has one of the Do 217 crashing at a precise place, "la ferme de Sanccia", near Ajjacio. Can you confirm that one of lost Do 217 crashed on land? In this case, Allied services will probably be very interested to search a bomber using the new Hs 293, I guess. It may have been the first such wreck to fall in their hands. Has anyone something on one of these wrecks ? |

Re: II./KG 100 30 Sep 43
I believe the Ju 88 did come down on land hence the discovery of the ausweis. I have nothing definite as to a Do 217 crashing on land but remains of Hs 293s were recovered from the sea

Re: II./KG 100 30 Sep 43
Bit of digging-6N+MP came down in the sea while 6N+KA crashed just on the beach at Villanova 1705 hrs
