Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
Thanks Paul-another one I cannot seem to pin down is Flt Lt V E King whose Nav/Rad was Fg Off William H Allison (got him)
|
Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
Chris,
I have King as F/Lt J E King. I also don't have a middle name for Allison, nor either service number. Enjoy! Frank. |
Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
F540 has J E and V E King but I wonder if it is 164973 Irving Edward King. It was 136342 William Henry Allison
|
Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
Chris any idea of a date for King being F/Lt
|
Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
Chris,
thanks for the Allison details. I have downloaded ten items from the 153 Sqn ORB. This afternoon I will count occurrences of VE, JE, and IE in those records, and download more if necessary. Enjoy! Frank. |
Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
Paul: He was Flt Lt in March and April 1944
|
Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
Possibly 758114 John Eric KING (86382). He was F/Lt by May 1944
|
Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
164973 Irving Edward King as only Fl/Lt 1946 so wrong rank
|
Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
I have checked the March through May Form 541s for 153 Sqn, and all the references to King are to J E King. He and Allison were tour expired on May 17, 1944, and left the squadron. So I have to believe that he is John Eric King, as posted by Paul at 0802 on April 11.
Enjoy! Frank. |
Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
Flg. Offs. to be Flt. Lts. (war subs.): —
J. E. KING (86382). (Seny. 29th Sept. 1942.) |
Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
Thanks Paul-one final one is Sgt R H Rapley (Nav/Rad)
|
Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
Chris,
I guess you have Rapley's pilot, F/O J C Horlock? Can you supply his details? Unfortunately I have ten or more aircrew with 153 Sqn to check. More than I want to drop on you or Paul. Is this just a matter of slogging through the London Gazette for the officers? What about the enlisted men? Enjoy! Frank. |
Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
Frank: 134123 John Charles killed with 272 Sqn 9 Dec 44. F540 has R, F H and R H Rapley but I believe it is Frank Rapley as he was POW in the crash that killed Horlock
|
Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
Maybe Ronald Hugh Rapley 1216908 but what date are you enquiring about ?
I think though it is W/O Frank Herbert Rapley #1602664 was the PoW in Horlock crash |
Re: 153 Sqn Aircrew 1944
Chris & Paul,
Many thanks for the additional details. And since I have the PDF of MAW5 open on my computer for indexing the Americans, I was able to quickly look up the serial number of the aircraft they were flying with 272 Sqn when they crashed. Enjoy! Frank. |
