10 & 11./ZG 26 Ju 88s
10./ZG 26 with Ju 88s existed from Sep 42 until Aug 43 while 11./ZG 26 existed from Jun 43 to Sep 44. Thanks to Matti I know more about losses but can anyone tell me who commanded each Staffel and when? I have possibly Hptm Peter Habicht and Oblt/Hptm Willhem Pflanz respectively?

Re: 10 & 11./ZG 26 Ju 88s
I believe 11./ZG 26 existed until end of war. CO from 22.11.44 onwards till 8.5.45 was Hptm. Richard Riedl.

Re: 10 & 11./ZG 26 Ju 88s
Thanks both. My interest is the Ju 88 ops as I believe that 10 Staffel was reformed Summer 44 with Bf 110s and 11 Staffel converted to Me 410 post Sep 44 (which explains the 3U+ marked Me 410 captured at the end of the war at Gardemoen (I believe)

Re: 10 & 11./ZG 26 Ju 88s
Basing on a logbook that I have I can confirm Hptm. Riedl.
I have further two signatures: Lt. ??? Staffelfuehrer and Olt.??? Staffelkapitaen. Regards Robert |

Re: 10 & 11./ZG 26 Ju 88s
Look at the hand writing left on the first one. 16/13 Ju 88 C-6 mentioned.

Missed that but they still appear to have done little following their return to the north

I do have a few operation mentioned in some Kriegsmarine files from Norway. I will seek them out.

Re: 10 & 11./ZG 26 Ju 88s
Thanks. The last possible 11 Staffel loss was a non-combat one on 22 Dec 44 and by Dec 44, they were operating Me 410s

Re: 10 & 11./ZG 26 Ju 88s
The new IV./Z.G.26 came into existence during the summer and autumn of 1944.
17 July 1944 the Zerstörerstaffel 13.(Z)/J.G.5 was renamed 10./Z.G.26. The Staffel was located at Herdla airfield north of Bergen and had 1 Bf 110G-0, 13 Bf 110G-2, 1 Bf 110G-4 and 1 Ju 88C-6 on strength. 20 July 1944 The Bf 110 elements of Küstenstaffel Krim was transferred to Norway and renamed 12./Z.G.26 and lcoated at Gossen airfield. At the end of July 1944 the strength stood at 2 Bf 110F-2, 9 Bf 110G-2 and 2 Bf 110G-3. 05. September 1944 a new Gruppenstab for IV./Z.G.26 was formed by renaming the former Gruppenstab of Seeaufkl.Gruppe 125. 10 September 1944 the 11./Z.G.26 transferred with 17 Ju 88C-6 and was stationed at Örlandet airfield north-wast of Trondheim. In November 1944 the Staffel moved to Gardermoen airfield north of Oslo and began conversion from Ju 88C-6 to Me 410. This was completed by early January 1945 and the Staffel moved back to Örlandet were it remained until the end of the war. On 23 February 1945 the IV./Z.G.26 was disbanded but it seems that 11._/Z.G.26 remained intact until May 1945. The crews of Stab, 10. and 12./Z.G.26 were transferred to Stavanger-Sola to form a new II./J.G.5. |
