Hi,
Would somebody have an additional information about the pictures (from 6th to 10th) showing JG 53's Me 109 : date and place(s) of the pictures, type ( G ?) of the aircrafts ? Many thanks to Ed for these pictures. ... and thanks for your answer Pierre BABIN |
Hi,
some comments about the JG53`s pictures: - photo no.1 - it`s a white 1 from 7/JG53. It`s hard to say when this photo was made - photo no.2 - white 6 from 1 Staffel may-june 1940 - photo no.3 - Hpt. Wilcke`s double chevron. Photo was made in january 1942 - photo no.4 - G-6 probably from 3/JG53 - but when and where? - photo no.5 - stab I/JG53`s aircraft. Could be either 1939 or early 1940. I hope this is a little step forward. Regards Robert |
Ca.310
The sixth misc. is a yugoslavian Ca.310.

Photographs etc Fritz Stendel
Hi, guys.
As can be seen from the documents, these are copies of a report Stendel wrote to the Traditionsgemeinschaft or Traditionsgeschwader JG 5, probably based on his own personal recollections and/or logbooks etc. Regards, Andreas |
Can any reader identify the code applied to the Fi 156 Storch in http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...em=6158028373?

Anyone else note the 4-leaf clover on the next to last 109?

Thank you, Peter, for your assessment of the codes applied to the Storch.
An independent second opinion seemed a good idea in this instance! RA |
Fi 156 SKZ
I agree with Peter, GA+T is the only group that seems to fit, being Kassel assembled Storchs. The last letter is to me the most difficult to pick out. If it is C, then the W.Nr. should be 5223, completed on 17.5.41.

...I've got a small selection of GA+T coded Fi156's in my code listing, but thanks for the additional info ArtieBob.. Peter D Evans - moderaor |
...and I meant to add as a matter of interest that a photo of a Fi156D coded GA+TL is featured on page 330 of "Luftwaffe Codes, Markings and Units 1939-45". The caption says that it was taken at Rovaniemi Finland in 1941 and served with Sanitäts Flugber 8...

It is on the second to last. Just seen it. Very interesting. Mark |
JG53 camouflage.
This was a very interesting photo
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=6158044722 Interestingly there is a photo on Luftwaffe Camouflage and Markings which I received today very similar to the above.(Still reading!!) Classed as an experimental scheme. On Page 52 it shows a Bf109E-1 of JG53 with a > marking. It was photographed in Wiesbaden in September 1939 and the colours were RLM70, 71 and 02, very angular with 65 underside. Proved too time consuming and complex. The ebay photo is the same colours and but different pattern. Also coded |>. Very interesting though as I said before. regards Mark |
