James you can double-check all MIG claims in Study 146 (starting p.118); mostly F-4 / F-105.

4 Apr 65 F-100 probable the VPAF had 3 pilots KIA this day can't if one of them was the probable.

17 Jun 65 2 VF-21 claims both okay

20 Jun 65 A-1 claim ok

10 Jul 65 2 45th TFS claim no losses

29 Jun 65 388th TFS claim no losses

18 Aug 65 34th TFS claim ok pilot KIA

2 Jan 67 Operation Bolo 7 claims 4 555th and 3 433rd TFSs 5 Mig-21s downed all pilots eject

6 jan 67 2 555th TFS claim both ok

10 Aug 672 VF-142 claims both ok see showtime 112

23 Aug 67 1 34th TFS claim no loss

3 Jan 72 2 claims 1 435th and 1 433rd TFS both ok

18 Jan 72 Air America Bell 205 pilot ted Moore and Glenn Woods with an AK-47 down 1 AN-2 and another was down by ground fire and them

9 May 68 1 VF-96 claim Ok

10 Jul 68 1 VF-33 claim ok

1 Aug 68 1 VF-51 claim ok

16 Apr 72 2 13th TFS and 1 523rd TFS claims ok

8 May 72 1 555th TFS claim ok

12 Jun 66 in looking over youtube Showtime 112 one source in the replies does say the Mig-17 was downed.

The same youtube reply has :
21 Jun 66 2 claims VF-211 the claim by Vampatella is most likely the Mig-17 loss for the day.

Wait--North Korean pilots flew over NVN?? That is very new info. I had always heard that the NVAF always used it's own 'talent pool'.

That's what Showtime 112 on youtube says. I have read about non North Vietnamese pilots flying combat against the US during this war over the years. This is the first where they give the names of the pilots.

I, too had heard rumors of foreign pilots in the NVAF but it had always been 'poo-pooed' as just rumors and gossip.
