Hi everyone,

At now I researh the victory claims of I/JG76 from June and July 1940.
I would like to find out the british victims of this claims (a/c, unites, crews).
I wonder if there is someone who can help me?
Here are the claims:

235 squadron Blenheim IV N3543 "LA-U", one of 4 from the unit shot down over the Netherlands on the 27th June 1940. The aircraft was shot down in the vicinity of Oegstregst at 15:30 hours by a Messerschmitt BF 109 of 2./JG76 flown by Lt Joachim Schypek. The crew of the Blenhiem, Pilot Officer Alan Roger Wales (pilot), Sergeant (Observer) John Walter Needham and Sergeant (W/Op) Thomas Charles Jordan all died as a result of the engagement. Two being killed in the crash and the third died shortly after of his injuries. (Friend at work asked me this afternoon if I could identify a photo of an wrecked aircraft taken by his German Grandfather in law while he served in the Luftwaffe during WWII). Photo showed the tail section of the Blenheim on the ground in the Netherlands.

Hello Robert,

Small correction to the info posted by bigvern1966 above: the place name is OEGSTGEEST. Can't blame anyone, Dutch names can be confusing in writing down. Apart from that the claim was made at 15.22 hrs.

Thanks for the correction Hans. Info on where N3543 came down and at what time was taken from the Net, so not my mistakes. As for my fist post gald to be of service Robet. Just out of interest does anybody know what the 235 Sqn aircraft was tasked with at the time it was shot down.

Hello Bigvern,

Blenheim N3543 was one of a flight of six, sent out for a recce between Hook of Holland and Texel, including the IJsselmeer (former Zuiderzee).
The flight encountered several Me 109's and four of the Blenheims were eventually shot down.

Yes, I would be very interested. One of the killed crewmembers of Blenheim P6957 washed ashore here, just a few miles from my place of living.

My workmate gave me a CD of scanned images from his late German Grandfather in Law's WWII photo album, as they had been saved in a Coraldraw file format that he couldn't open. Unfortunately none of the photos were labelled, but for the cover which said 'The war'. He was based in the Netherlands where I think a lot of the photographs were taken. Some of them are of wrecked Luftwaffe (JU-88), Dutch (I think, the type is unknown to me and not an expert at non RAF aircraft) and RAF (Burnt out Wellington and the Blenheim) aircraft, plus my friend reckons Herman Goeing is in one of the Photos. I think he is right (photo attached). Anybody have a clue what the identity of these aircraft are (A long shot, as I’ve no details of where they were taken). If not, no problems.

The third image concerns Wellington R3170 of 99 Sqdn which crashlanded on 6th July 1940 near Haarlem.
I can't open the first one, can you perhaps check this file?

I've had a play with the the first file and reloaded it on the post in question. It's a Ju88 and looks like its coded

Aircraft is badly damaged and in a ditch from what looks like a landing accident.

The other aircraft looks like the remains of the front half of a Fokker D.XVIIin front of a hanger.

At least the date is sommer/Autum 40 for the Ju88, the only time that KG4 had Ju88..
