I have now read through my Bloch fighter books/articles and it seems these propellers were of Chauvière type made of wood and fixed pitch and it is correct, they were fitted due to a shortage of the standard Chauvière 371 three-bladed ones. What is quite amazing is that I cannot find a single French aircraft which they could possibly have been aimed at, and since I don't believe they were built 'just-in-case', they must have somehow been purpose built just to get the Blochs tested and away from the production line. It is also very clear not all aircraft ever received their intended unit. I confess I am not very technical minded but sometimes even I can get aroused by such an odd detail as a four-blade airscrew....:D Quite amazing that too.... Cheers Stig |
