On this evening, Plt Off Douglas Cropper was shot down on Circus 75. He was seen being attacked and then his Spitfire was seen burning on the ground. I have claims by Stab, Stab II and Stab III./JG 2 but anyone have a more accurate location for the crash and his assailant?

Further to this, the only probabilities are:


Maj Walter Oesau, Stab/JG 2, 4kmNE Calais (this would be at sea)
Ofw Günther Seeger, Stan/JG 2 10km NNE Calais (sea)
Ofw Kurt Bühligen, Stab II./JG 2
Ofw Josef Wurmhweller, Stab/JG 2
Stfw Franz Jaenisch, Stab III/JG 2

Brian Bines also correctly suggests it could have been Hptm Walter Adolph of Stab II./JG 26 who got a Spitfire north of Marquise at the right time so the only confirmed kill over land. Sgt Cyril Booty of 602 Sqn who is also buried at Pihen was shot down over Peuplinges around midday so yet again a clear case of over-claiming by JG 2
