Hello All
When checking ORB 68 Squadron RAF (Record Sheet B) I found an extremely interesting Mosquitoes flying accidents.
18th September 1944 flying accident (cat. E) - D.H.Mosquito NF.Mk.XVII - Serial HK?? (illegible)
8th November 1944 flying accident (cat. AC) - D.H.Mosquito NF.Mk.XVII - Serial HK?? (illegible)
5th December 1944 flying accident (cat. B) - D.H.Mosquito NF.Mk.XVII - Serial HK?? (illegible)
Unfortunately, I do not know what to do. Http www.dehavilland.ukt.net - does not answer.
Identification numbers of mosquitoes are totally illegible.
Can anyone help? Any information greatly appreciated.

Doesn't the RAF Museum have scanned accident cards? AHB does but they are not releasing such information nowadays.

I appreciate the effort to help me. Unfortunately HK345 it certainly is not.
In ORB 68 Sqn RAF (Record Sheet B) HK345 is shown to the right place.
18th September 1944 is indicated number of others. It is difficult to read. (maybe HK258 or 285 or 278 or other) Category E would certainly have been registered. Mosquito was probably repaired . It's a big mystery.
Any further help is very welcome

I don't know if you have these already and they are likely to be pretty well known by now, being published back in 1980 (2nd Edition)? Smith's De Havilland Mosquito list gives the following (without the Mk No's) on the dates you list, but only one 68 Sqn:-

Mosquitoes flying accidents.
18th September 1944
HK228 307 Sqn in flight at 1200 feet F/L at Sturgate, Lincs 2 K., had been struck by HK194 (Sqn/Unit not given) in flight, also
MT456 hit Wellington LP625, but both Cat W. and
PZ180 U/c collapse.

8th November 1944
HX 973 u/c collapse
DZ632 In flight, spun and dived, crashed Oak Farm, Lound, Suffolk, 2 Killed.

4th December 1944
HK348 68 Sqn Aircraft reported missing, presumed to have crashed into the sea after going down to investigate a flare seen below.

5th December 1944
PZ418 Landing etc., overshot, bounced, hit wall at Sumburgh Aerodrome 1 K & 1 Inj.

As already suggested perhaps your only hope lies with the RAF Museum and also a check of the HK serial AM 78 Aircraft Cards too?

The AHB have told me that they will only check their originals, provided I had exhausted other avenues such as the RAF Museum filmed copies first.

Only hope lies with the RAF Museum.
