ADM 199/166 Combat Reports
 

Hi guys

Not RAF but ...........

Has anyone copies of Combat Reports relating to PQ18 actions (802 and 813 Sea Hurricane Squadrons), apparently to be found in ADM 199/166?

Failing that, is there anyone who might be able to copy them for me in the foreseeable future during a visit to the National Archives?

I don't understand your question! However, I understand that ADM199/166 includes combat reports of Sea Hurricane pilots during Convoy PQ18.

Sadly, I'm not sufficiently fit these days to make the trip to the National Archives to undertake research!

"802 and 813" ?
Surely "802 and 883" ?

802 and 883 sqdns 6 a/c each = 12 Sea Hurricanes.
803 and 833 sqdns 3 a/c each = 6 Swordfish II's
Total 18 a/c
But Avenger is said to have had 15 a/c in total ?

Before 13/9/42 ( between 9/9/42 & 13/9/42 ) - 1 Sea Hurricane swept overboard.

13/9/42 Lt. EWT Taylour S/d - Killed.
14/9/42 - 3 S/d pilots rescued.
802 - Lt GM Torrance
883 - Lt. IP Garrow
883 - Lt AR Laurie

Which left 7 Sea Hurricanes. And 6 Swordfish for the return convoy "QP14".

Other pilots named were - Lt. PLV Massy and Lt PJ Williams.

Am sure that this has been discussed on the forum before, so perhaps an archive search may reveal something ?
Also I think also RAF Commands Forum also.
