PM notifications?
 

I don't know if its just me, but could somebody explain to me if its possible for visible alerts to appear for Private Messages (PM's)? Not only does nothing tell me of any new PM's in my indox (other than a small barely noticable change to the text in the top right of the homepage) I've sent PM's to members here and despite the fact that I know they have been here more or less every day since I sent the PM, they appear to not see any form of notification and the PM goes unanswered.

I've checked to see if there is any facility for alerts to be generated via my UserCP, but for the life of me I cannot find any options.

With this in mind, if ArtieBob reads this, can you check your PM's please?

Hi Peter. I guess Ruy will have answer this. I have no problem noting the bold type when a PM is in my box. Perhaps a monitor resolution issue?

Hi Peter,
Go to your USER CP, and under the edit options for PMs see this section ...

"You may limit the receipt of private messages to just moderators and your contacts. Other members who attempt to send messages to you will be told that you have disabled private messaging.
Receive Private Messages only from Contacts and Moderators

The forum can send a message to your email address to inform you when someone sends you a private message.
Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages

If you are browsing the forums when you receive a new private message, the system can pop-up a notification box informing you of the new message.
Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up "

There are boxes to tick that will solve your problem.

Many thanks indeed Bruce :) The option to switch on the "Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up" is just the ticket and I'd recommend that all members have this switched on too!
