Ofw. Johannes Richter RKT Question

Obermeier states that Major Rudolf Schoenerts Bordfunker Johannes Richter was credited with a kill by using his bord machine guns.

I have searched Les Butler's 'Combat Claims and Casualties' site but cannot seem to find a claim against Johannes Richter.

My question is two-fold, firstly whether the claim in question would of been credited to Rudolf Schoenert or indeed Johannes Richter?

Secondly, is the actual claim known where Richter is credited with the kill?

All help will be very well received.

Regards Richard.

Re: Ofw. Johannes Richter RKT Question

Hi Richard

Bordfunkers claims are recorded under themselves on the Micro films, as are bomber gunners. I have found that many nightfigher and Bf110 pilot I couldn't find deaths for turned out to be bordfunkers after a little research, the low rank would be a giveaway!

Regards

Johannes

Re: Ofw. Johannes Richter RKT Question

Richard,

I agree with Johannes comments with one addition, there are times when the claim is credited to the crew (Besatzung) rather than any individual.

As to Ofw. Richters claim, my guess is that the claim that I've listed below with Shoenerts claims is the claim you are after.

13.10.43 Hptm. Rudolf Schoenert Stab I./NJG 100 DB-3 £ Babinovitski: at 2.000 m. 01.07 Film C. 2035/I Anerk: Nr. 45
13.10.43 Hptm. Rudolf Schoenert Stab I./NJG 100 DB-3 £ Berseja: at 6.000 m. 17.46 Film C. 2035/I Anerk: Nr. 46
13.10.43 Hptm. Rudolf Schoenert Stab I./NJG 100 DB-3 £ 15 1869/35 Ost: at 4.500 m. 21.24 Film C. 2035/I Anerk: Nr. 47
13.10.43 Ofw. J Richter (Bf Schonert) Stab I./ 2./NJG 100 PS-84 £ 05 1661/35 Ost: at 2.600 m. 21.53 Film C. 2035/I Anerk: Nr. 48
14.10.43 Hptm. Rudolf Schoenert Stab I./NJG 100 DB-3 £ W. Demenino: 1.300 m. [Krs. Kursk] 18.21 Film C. 2035/I Anerk: Nr. 49
14.10.43 Hptm. Rudolf Schoenert Stab I./NJG 100 DB-3 £ W. Demenino: 1.700 m. [Krs. Kursk] 18.26 Film C. 2035/I Anerk: Nr. 50
14.10.43 Hptm. Rudolf Schoenert Stab I./NJG 100 DB-3 £ W. Demenino: 1.300 m. [Krs. Kursk] 18.37 Film C. 2035/I Anerk: Nr. 51
14.10.43 Hptm. Rudolf Schoenert Stab I./NJG 100 DB-3 £ Naravoki: at 1.900 m. 20.56 Film C. 2035/I Anerk: Nr. 52

Maybe someone with further information on Schoenert can confirm this from a logbook or other records.

Regards,

Craig...

Ofw. Johannes Richter RKT Question

Gents

Many thanks indeed for your help with this request.

It appears in this case that Ofw. Richter was indeed awarded the 'kill' and not his pilot Rudolf Schoenert and I appreciate seeing the micro film reference against the claim.

Thanks again for your time and effort.

Regards Richard.

Re: Ofw. Johannes Richter RKT Question

Richard,

I forgot to mention that the markings in blue are my additions to what I got from the claims files. As I said earlier, this is my best guess, maybe someone else can confirm from an alternate source.

Regards,

Craig...
