Also, why does it have a German cross painted on the fuselage?
A bit unnecessary after a crash like that, one would think....

This a captured Potez 631 used as a decoy in Cherbourg french navy AB and later thrown in the sea.

Makes sense to a certain degree, but why waste a lot of raw material?
Any individual known and perhaps at least a rough time frame?
