Ireland dash9es), May 1945
Looking through some UKNA (can't say TNA, somehow) 'pieces',
mainly SALU daily reports dating to May 1945 (dont have exact ref Nos to hand, sorry), I came across a couple of tantalising refs on or about May 4th 1945 to dashes across the UK by one or two (German) aircraft which clearly intended to reach Eire. One of them passed near to Liverpool, and (I think) ended up in the Irish sea. Not a shoot down though. While dashes to Sweden from further east are well attested, I have not heard anything about these attempts. Anyone know anything about them? Best Chris |

On 5May 1945 Ju88G-6 W.Nr.621642 D5+GH I./NJG3 flew from Grove (Denmark) and landed at the Irish Air Corps base at Gormanston, Co Meath, I understand from the pilots log book that he flew over or near Liverpool.I have nothing for the 4 th May and would be interested if anyone had further information.

Does the Flugbuch from the pilot of D5+GH exist?

Justin Horgan was in touch with the crew I believe. No mention of a FB but the flight log said the route was Grove-MNiddleborough-Liverpool-Gormanston
