Heligoland December 3rd 1939

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me what Bf109 and Me110 units were involved in this, the first air battle of Heligoland on December 3rd 1939. The reports from 38, 115 and 149 Squadrons suggest the Bf109s were joined by twin engined Me110s.

Can anyone confirm this, who and what were involved and any losses reported, plus claims ?

TIA

Steve

Steve

There is also a book written about the whole "campaign" against Heligoland 1939 by Robin Holmes.
It is called 'The Battle of Heligoland Bight 1939' and was published by Grub Street in 2009.
I found it to be a very good read and if still available worth buying.

Don't know if Chris has read it and what his opinions are....

Cheers
Stig

I would never profess to know it all (but wife says I am a know-it-all!)
