WW2 French Training aircraft at Evreux equivalent to Tiger Moth
 

In 1939-40 what aircraft did the French Armeé de la Air use as their primary trainer in which pilots got their wings?

In particular I'm looking for details of what Denys Boudard would have flown at Evreux.

So I understand he did not official end his Armeé de la Air initial training. If he had, what aircraft would he have flown fly next to get more experience had the situation not changed in Northern France in 1940 and he decided to escape to the UK.

He used a stolen german Bucker 131 !
Primary trainers was : Caudron Luciole, Romano 60, Morane-Saulnier MS 315 and others

An "accident" means a report was done, but it could be anything from an aircraft lost landing in a field without damage to a fatal crash. That explains why some aircraft have repeated accidents in a short period.

Does any one know if Jean Herbert was also at Ecole Auxiliaire de Pilotage N°17 at Evreux-Fauville with Denys Boudard? I know that Jean was with Denys in Algeria but i cannot find details of whether they both travelled together to North Africa.

I know that Denys moved to with Ecole' N.17 to Lannion in mid 1940. Did the Ecole N.17 move to Bergerac and Toulouse or was it just Denys being sent there by the Armee de la Air? Also was his move to Algeria via Marseille and Oran an official journey by orders of Armee de la Air or his (and Jean's) own decision.

Did Jean Herbert learn to fly in a Potez 60 in 1937 like his friend Denys?

The 2ème classe Jean HEBERT (Eleve-pilote) posted to EAP 17 at Evreux-Fauville on 12 march 1940. He came from Ecole Elementaire n°21 of Bernay.

Caporal on 16 june 1940

The 2ème classe Denys BOUDARD (Eleve-pilote) posted to EAP 17 at Evreux-Fauville on 15 january 1940. He came from Ecole Elementaire n°21 of Bernay.

Caporal-chef on 1 april 1940

They were together at EAP n°17 and certainly at Bernay (EEP 21)

EAP 17 posted from Evreux to Lannion on 21 may 1940.

On 1/7/1940 EAP n°17 was at Base Aérienne of Bergerac and dissolved.

Later Hebert and Boudard were posted to GB 1/61 (on 01/10/1940) and they left for permission in feb. and were demobilised on 29 march 1941.

Since you seem to have plenty of details about these pilots, can I ask you if there is any book or website that contain details about the French training system/training units up to let's say 1940?

This is sadly missing details, at least for me.

Most of these info came from personnal researches in files of Armée de l'Air.

Nevertheless the two issues of Aero journal n°37 & 38 (7/2004) and 9/2004) written by CJE bring solid infos on these schools.

In the same spirit in the last issue of the first number one of aviation magazine "AVIONS n°227" you will discover an excellent article on "Les liaisons d’état-major dans l’Armée de l’Air 1939-1940 " by the French historian Matthieu Comas. You will find solid list of aircraft -with s/n -
