Hello,

"Double Nickel Double Trouble" by Lt Col R M Littlefield has what you seek I feel.

Leslie in a/c "CY-A" serial number 44-13363 became a POW. His room mate was 2Lt.Jordon Eliades.

He is reported as attacking a locomotive and he sharp turned to the right heading toward a large town. As he approached from the west at approx 200ft light flak was sent up, he then chandelled (?) to the right, his last reported position was given as SE of where he was hit with flak altitude 400ft.

There also may be details in "The 55th Fighter Group vs the Luftwaffe" by John M Gray.

All the best
Alex

Good evening Klaus and Alex !

This case seems a tricky one. It doesn't show up for this day in the J-, KU-,ME etc. collection of the National Archives, arranged day-by-day.

Fortunately, the pilot survived here. It is very usual in circumstances like this, that the information, compiled by Luftgaukommando and DuLag Luft West were not found entrance into the MACR as a paper file. The pilot survived and was in ZOI.

Here, please find to get the November 5th file in record group 242 in National Archives, arranged day-by-day to see, if you find another entrance for a Mustang crash at Gross-Wallstadt, Oberspeltach, or Geroldsau.
Those cases are cleared by MACR+J-reports, but your case is still
mysterious.

All the best

Horst Weber
