Pilots of No.152 Sqn .
 

I am looking for information and if possible photos of two pilots from No.152 Sqn,
Flight Lt. Sizzer and Sgt. McPherson . If anybody can help I would be most grateful, thanks .

Hello,

F/L Sizzer, probably, 40758 F/L Wilfred Max SIZER DFC. If so, a biography (pp.549-550), and a photo (between pp.412-413), appear in - Aces High, Shores & Williams, Grub Street, 1994.

Sizer and F/Sgt M "Sandy" McPHERSON, shared a Ju 88 over the Irish Sea on 23 August, 1942.

I wonder were they entitled to that claim, what about 315 and 504 Squadrons input?

I restricted my comments to the two individuals mentioned. John Foreman seems to think they are entitled to a share in the claim:

Thanks Col I am very familiar with John's (Foreman) excellent work, I keep them on my reference shelves. I am aware that 504 Sqn was somewhat miffed when 152 put in a claim. I am not aware that F/L Sizer and F/Sgt MacPherson actually got into combat with the Ju88 prior to its landing but did fire off some rounds when it was on the ground. Unfortunately their combat reports were not available when I was on one of my visits to Kew.
Perhaps schnellmeyer would have an observation.

In order to verify the veracity of the F/Lt Sizer and F/Sgt Mc Pherson share in the destruction of the Ju88 at Tramore, I was hoping that someone had succeeded in obtaining their combat reports before they disappeared. The ORB narrative mentions their part but three of the Luftwaffe crew that I had been in touch with were adamant that they were not intercepted by these two Spitfires prior to landing.
In view of the claim by schnellmeyer that he was a personal friend of Lt Paul Stormer I thought that he might have an input to this forum in the interest of history.

Mr. Kearns , just for the record so there will be no confusion . I "claim" nothing but only stated fact , yes Paul Stormer was a good friend of mine and I did visit him many times at his home in Hamburg but then again you already knew this as I had given you unlimited access to my collection some years ago which you had in your possession for some time. I am a little confused why you used the term "claim" .
As for information on the above incident I will gladly share it with people when I have finished my research . I too had contact with three members of this crew , Hauptmann Gottfried Bernt , Lt.Paul Stormer and Uffz.Sepp Reiser , now sadly all have passed away .
And also my original post was about pilots from No.152 Sqn and not the Ju88 incident .

My reference to this claim is: FC3; CR: Air 50/163-7&8, 17; 152 Sqn ORB (at 0915). Timestamp for the claim is at 0832. Possibly the 152 Sqn claim should be considered a separate claim for a different aircraft, but if so I can find credit given for only one daylight claim on this date.

FC3 (Fighter Command Combats and Casualties) shows a credit to 2 Spitfire Vb of 504 Squadron for one Ju 88 destroyed, between 0810 and 0930, with no casualties, off Gormanston. It also shows one casualty, a Spitfire Cat E, F/O K Sawiak, crashed in Eire, to 315 Squadron, between 0751 and 0930. I do not see any later amendments for this date.

Hello Frank , thanks for your post . I also agree with what you have stated . However the location of the Ju88 crash is wrong , the crash was at Tramore in Co.Waterford about 100 miles or so south of Gormanston .
