Hamdullilah!
Flickr does obviously some maintenance at odd hours;-)) Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi folks,
Among my sweep through the online Bundesarchiv photos, I found this one which is a real tough nut to crack: http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...in/photostream My interpretation, based on the camouflage pattern, is as follows: Bf 109 G-8 W.Nr 20. ..., NAGr. ?, France, Autumn 1944. Source: Bundesrachiv, PK Röderer, Bild 101I-496-3453-39A. I would be grateful for any complementary information ...and confirmation;-)) Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
ChristianK,
Just found thanks your thread revival of Bf 110 G-4 W.Nr 720 082 this good shot of Bf 109 G-14/AS W.Nr. 465 381: http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...57625539886908 The picture was taken by 4 US Infantry Division 8th Infantry Regiment, no location given. Any chance to narrow down the location? Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Sorry Marc, no idea...
|
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Alas..
Danke Christian! Will try to track down where his unit was in April 1945... Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Thanks to Peter over on LEMB, another nice Bf 109 K-4 picture:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...in/photostream Bf 109 K-4 W.Nr 334 ... or 335 ..., unit unknown, Goslar, May 1945. Source: Ebay auction via LEMB Forum. No tactical markings nor RV Band are to to be seen. Now which unit was operating from Goslar during the Spring 1945? Thanks! Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi Marc,
According Michael Holms site; only one (among fighter units) III./JG 27 until 8/4/45. Not a lot but that's all I can do. Cheers, Franck. |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Merci beaucoup, Franck!
That gives us at east a clue: low vis RV band seen under that angle, dark tactical markings, add a tad of shine on the paint job, and there you have a perfectly anonymous Bf 109 K-4 when seen under that angle;-)) and which very well could be of 10./JG 27... Cheers Marc |

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
And you're probably right so, Jörn. I've checked again the picture and the W.Nr. 465 381 is fully legible; even the washed down "6" can be made out.
What can't even with the best good will, is the AS bulge: a propeller blade stands oddly at that particular place, combined with the shadow of the metallic roof.. Facit: W.Nr. is correct , and yes, it can by all means be a Bf 109 G-14. Any way to be positive about it? Thanks Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
And this time another challenge:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...in/photostream and: http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...in/photostream Are these two sets of two pics taken on the same airfield? If yes or no, which airfield(s)? Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hello Marc,
My records indicate that Si204D, WNr. 221056, DG+PH, was found abandoned at Straubing. I think what you have are photos of that and the other aircraft before and after their destruction. Steve Sheflin |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
And I can say that this Bf 109 from KG(J) 55 was definitely photographed at Straubing. It becomes clear when you compare it to other photos from this location. Nothing more to add I am afraid, but there is a good chance that Steve is right with his assumption..

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Steve, Christian,
You really make my day! Many many thanks! Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
As a follow-up, here another pic of Straubing, now easily recognizable thanks to you Steve ...and Siebel Si 204 W.Nr. 221056;-))

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

Marc, i m convinced that the already very known 109 nose from KG(J)55 and probably posted somewhere on your pages (got some difficulties to find it) is also from Straubing. Actually here you can see it's nose with a yellow nosed Fw190 backward which is part from a serie i believe pictured at Straubing. (it is probably different than yellow 25+I )

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Olivier,
I see very well which picture you mean... and I know I have it somewhere, but can't find it as well. Darn it! Given time, I will implement new sets by Gruppen and Geschwadern. This should enable an easier cross referencing... Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Look at "Pilsen"
:) http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...57631640684136 Not the same spiral on spinner comparing with "Gelbe 25". It seems we have three planes of KG(J)55, haven't we? Regards, Franck. |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Providential, you're providential;-))
Merci! Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi there Gang,
A new challenge for yet another rainy Sunday: thanks to Peter, over on LEMB, we have a very nice shot of what I interpret as a WNF built Bf 109 G-14 "W-0+66" flown by 101 Vadaszezred in late 1944 or early 1945: http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...in/photostream Note the three first digits of the W.Nr. at the usual WNF position, at the base of the fin. Though blurred I read 512. A confirmation as well the location of this landing mishap would be much appreciated! Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Bonjour Marc,
I don't like the way Flickr did change the presentation of your page. They did the same with Kemon01 too; I suppose it's a Global change and a complete nonsense even for everybody's page. Comments aren't accessible except if opening the pictures one by one ... We need to think to reopen the Yola account maybe - or something like that - and to put the document I kept with ALL thumbnails and links; but still no access to comments ... After 2 of June? Cheers, Franck. |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Salut Franck,
I only fleetingly could assess the damaged one. Will be back more thoroughly by tomorrow. Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Marc,
Do you have a link for just the G-10's? I'm looking for III./JG 27 mounts in particular. |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hallo Oberst,
Scroll down to page 3 of sets, and there you have them, sorted out by producers.... No time yet to upload them by unit; this will be a future development. Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi Gang,
Thanks to Peter over on LEMB, I uploaded some new pics from late war Bf 109's... http://www.flickr.com/photos/28092068@N03/9007237094/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...n/photostream/ Among them are those two pics of a Bf 109 G-6 which camouflage is typical for Mtt-built Planes in the 163 xxx - 166 xxx W.Nr. range. Given the tactical marking type and the white Süd Front band, I would bet on an 2./NAGr. plane shot down somewhere in Italy, Spring 1944. I would much appreciate having all possible details on this particular plane;-)) Thanks in advance Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Marc,
That plane got 20mm gondolae under wings; I doubt it was from one NAGr. something!! Don't you? :D http://www.me109.info/display.php?a=e&fid=4389 ... Later: Given the very tight spiral on spinner I think about one JG 77 machine. Just a guess, nothing serious!! Cheers, Franck. |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Ah Franck,
The bigger the detail is, the less I see it... Thanks for your thorough look;-)) Much appreciated! Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Y're the most welcome Marc.

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
A great set of 1944 - 1945 WNF factory pics has just been found by Peter, over on LEMB. Among them is this great sight of a Bf 109 G-10 being engine tested in deep snow, Winter 1944 - 1945...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...in/photostream As for the others, taken between April and August 1944, I'm still looking for the W.Nr's of Bf 109 G-6 "PN+IY", http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...57632867434203 Bf109 G-6 "DU+SL" http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...57632867434203 Bf 109 G-6 "PR+QS" http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...57632867434203 Fantastic that those images are still extent... and thanks for your help! Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi Marc,
There is a problem here!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/28092068@N03/9134691305/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/28092068@N03/8964323028/ Cheers, Franck. |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Thanks Franck! The second is the good one... My mistake; with 2700+ pics, I keep on forgetting that some I find now are already onboard;-))
Cheers Marc |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi Marc and Gents,
http://www.flickr.com/photos/28092068@N03/9154893650/ auction here: http://www.ebay.de/itm/RV-Jagdflugze...item51aeb37722 Bf 109 G-5, 9./JG 11 in Oldenburg. See LiF N°14, 2008, page 9. Good flight Marc! If I dare: Since you're going in Colorado, can you go a little bit more southern, pay a visit to little Canyon area, visit Hopi territory and bring me back a KATSINA doll as souvenir? Thank you very much ... for your understanding :D Cheers to you both. Franck. PS: for this special circonstance I did change my avatar for a Katsina doll which stands in Phoenix museum: The JOKER! |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Great Franck!
Thanks very much. As for the doll, will stay north, by the Anaszasi's and the Navajos... Cheers Marc |

A comment on the first photo that shows in the link -Nice picture of a Bf with two pllots sitting on the fowling but perhaps more importantly the guy in back is Erich Hartmann. Later Rediron |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Why do you say that? Physical resemblance or based on knowledge that Hartmann was at Mostar at the time?
:) |

Welcome down there. But instead of giving the general link, are you able to give the picture you're talking about link? It will be better for all members and will help them to understand your meaning. Regards, Franck. |
Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
If not mistaken, Rediron, you're talking about this picture which, to my knowledge, does show Lt. Troebs from 1./NAGr 12 in Mostar. Here is the full caption of that pic, and sorry, Franck, I can't post the link from my smartphone... You'll find it easily in the Mostar set...
Bf 109 G-6/R2/Trop W.Nr. unknown "Weisse ?", Lt. Troebs, 1./NAGr. 12, Mostar, Spring 1944. Source: Collection Troebs via Mombeek 1997, p. 116. Now which guy is Hartmann? Cheers Marc |
