Then, I would bet on 464 606...BTW also the style of the white spiral on the spinner is typical of Bf 109G-14s of that batch...(I have seen only now the two other frontal shots).

Pity that the nose oil filler hatch can't be seen clearly, because I would bet this aircraft belongs to those G-14s fitted with the bigger oil nose tank (from "horseshoe" shape to annular one) and thus had the "higher" placed one, like on G-10s and K-4s.

Jörg and Ferdinando,

All my thanks for correcting and narrowing down the W.Nr. range. It is much appreciated. You are duly credited in the stream, as Peter, from LEMB who tracked the original site harboring this set of three pictures (http://www.stalag18a.org.uk/)

Srecko, looking forward for your profile.
Oberst, your info is very interesting. May I ask for your source?

Cheers

This looks much more like a late Bf 109G-6 from MTT Regensburg, IMHO.

BTW, speaking of the Erla G-14 we have discussed so far, looking more closely at it, I'm more and more convinced its W.Nr. is 464 609...

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

Ferdinando,

I played along with what my Mac can give as picture edition; the result is clearer then I would have expected: xx4 609 is clearly to be seen. The second digit might be a 6 and the first is lost forever... Thus W.Nr. (4)64 609 is the best match.

Thanks for checking it over;-))

Well.... finding or the image owner and high resolution scan would be even greater. Who is owner?

Why not drop the webmaster of the link provide by Marc in post #161 Srecko?

Incidentally, rather than personally take credit for providing this link, as can be seen in the link provided by Christian in post #148, it was LEMB member Richard502 who originally posted a direct link back in April'10...

Peter- this topic become huge and simply I can not trace all post here. At least I am not responsible for any content or material post here so I see no problem if I ask for optional info.

Thank you for attention anyway :)

I guess that the best way should be to contact Ian Brown, curator of the fantastic site http://www.stalag18a.org.uk/ and ask him to get in touch with "...Kathryn Shepherd, daughter of Pte Ken Bee..." who supplied those G-14 photographs we are all interested at...

Don't know if this is the fastest route, but is undoubtedly the more correct one.

No worries, Srecko;

Peter was only bringing back to our quite over flooded memory the topic on LEMB which ChristianK already brought back to our attention in post 148.

As for the huge quantity of information, maybe we could keep a better track by splitting it in four main sections:

G-6
G-14
G-10
K-4

What do you think, Ruy?

Cheers

No date or place are known. the source of this foto was the internet, but I finally tracked it to SAM Modellers Datafile 10 - Messerschmitt Bf 109 pt2. F to K variants. Page 69. no source givin there either. But, its a book that I now own. Some very nice colour fotos some of which I never seen before.

Peter, if I may dare, there are clearly communication problems between you and Srecko, maybe due also to his not native English...

IMHO it could be of great help if you both would exchange directly in PM to clear things. Only an opinion and please forgive the intermission.

Peter D Evans 16th October 2011 23:26

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

All sorted now chaps :) Moral of the story, always take into consideration that English is not the mother tongue of everybody who posts, that way misunderstandings like this are less likely to happen... (thanks also to those who got involved outside of the forum... you know who you are)

Now back to the discussion...

The caption to the photo in post #152 simply states that these Bf109G-6's or Bf109G-14's possibly belonged to a Jagdfliegerschule and that the yellow band after of the balkenkreuz became an identification device for all training units...

Gang,

I just started a new set with all Bf 109 which sub-type cannot be ascertained, at least by myself; your comments would be most welcome!

Here is the first one:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...in/photostream

Beyond that, I was surprised to find out another overall RLM 76 machine here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...7625332659676/

This one was said to be found in Lechfeld; is it another 1./NJG 11 machine?

Thanks for your thoughts
Marc

The "W.Nr. 151 591" (#3 in the link) isn't an Erla a/c. On the tail is an 61x xxx - W.Nr.

Hi folks,

As I had a bit if "spare time" tonight, I scurried through my HD and uploaded a bounty of about 40 late war Bf 109's pics found over the years on the web; some are already published and I will fill in the caption details given time. Many are not yet, being former ebay or Tonelli auctions; their particulars are barely known. Thanks in advance for all infos/advices on all of them!

Cheers

Hello Marc,

The picture you're talking about has been done at Bad Wörishofen (see Fl.Pl. thread's on LEMB) and the plane is coded 316 or 318. Just over-exposed!

Would love to know it, Oberst. Unfortunately, no clues on the photos as the WNF W.Nr. on the rudder was painted over in yellow.
