Location of pitot tube on Fw 190A-7

Having just finished building a model of Adolf Glunz's Fw 190A-7, White 9, WNr. 642527, and using Peter Rodeike's Focke Wulf Jagdflugzeug as a source, I noted that the pitot tube in two different areas of the wing. The factory drawing on page 230 shows the pitot tube to be on the outer wing location as does the photo of Alfred Grislawski's Fw 190A-7 WNr. 430965, White 9 on page 240.

However, the photo on page 243 of <o of Stab/JG 1 shows the tube next to the outer MG 151 mid-wing., as does the photo of Yellow 8, WNr. 643910, on page 245. Lastly, the Fw 190A-7s on page 261 and on page 262 shows the placement mid-wing.

Is it possible that the Fw 190A-7s produced at Ago (430xxx) were constructed with the pitot tubes in the outer-wing position and the ones from Fieseler (642xxx) left the factory in the mid-wing position?

I assume you meant page 239 when you spoke of the A-7 drawing. That is very interesting because all handbooks and references that I have seen show that only with the A-8 did the pitot tube move to the wingtip. Actually the White 9 photo on page 240 shows an A-8 because it has the forward mounted centre-line drop tank fairing in addition to the wingtip pitot tube. The forward mounted drop tank fairing was to compensate for the mounting of the cruising tank behind the pilot's cockpit. You can recognize that fairing by the fact that the forward edge nearest the fuselage is perpendicular to the fuselage, whereas on earlier, rearward mounted fairings it is at an angle to the fuselage (compare the A-6 on page 229) to see the difference.
