I asked that myself. Mark Postlethwaite replied:

We started in 1943 simply because starting in 1940 would not have been as interesting for many enthusiasts and the series needs to get off to a good start. 1940 will come later. All is written!

So I would say a marketing decision to get everyone interested in the series. If it helps Wing Leader's bottom line right now, I am all for it. Remember, much of TOCH's commentariat is "hard core" and will buy them all, but there aren't enough of us to sustain the series by ourselves. So catch the readership early, and they won't wiggle off the line.

Three volumes for 1943 I believe. I don't know where they will pick up after they finish the 1943 volumes. I do know I will be buying them all.

I received this message from Simon Parry yesterday:
"There will be a comprehensive posting before the book's release date.
Briefly: it is the new work from Theo and Rod - very much bigger than originally envisaged. The original 5 volumes proved impractical.
There will be volumes specifically dealing with Med and Eastern Fronts.
More details will follow in an update in the next couple of weeks. "

So I guess we will know more in a couple of weeks time

I have ordered mine but they still have to arrive. However, Theo was kind enough to show me parts of the manuscripts for my own research and so I know what I can expect from him: superb and highly detailed work as always.

One thing to consider: splitting it up into multiple volumes helps in many ways - the books go down in price and I think the price is rather fair! Plus you can stretch it over time. The individual books are "lighter" (literally) and easier to handle. As a reader, you got a choice to spend 20 GBP and decide if you like the work - if not, you lost 20 GBP but if so, you are not paying much more than if you would have purchased it in two volumes (like the original Nachtjagd War Diaries).

Congratulations to Theo for finishing off a super-long project and bringing the result to market!

Thanks for that Andreas! One little addition perhaps; I'm not the only man behind the big project, it's a team effort, I could never have done this alone. Re. the maps in the individual volumes for example; Rod is the man behind these superb maps! (And you'll have to wait a little while longer before Rod's NCA volumes on 1945 will see the light of day, these are absolutely brilliant..)

Dear all,

A little update on the NCA series: we have just finished work on the proofs of the third and concluding volume for 1943, this will go to the printers in two days. In late June-early July, it will be published by Wing Leader.

We will now concentrate on the NCA volumes for 1940-1942.

Thanks for your kind comments guys! The further development of the NCA series is going fast now -I will be delivering the final manuscripts of the 1940-42 volumes (including 376 photos) to Wing Leader in two weeks time, so the development of these vols will start shortly too. It's a great feeing to see it all coming to fruition after all these years of hard work!

Another little update on the Nachtjagd Combat Archive series: today, we have finished work on the proofs of the first volume in the series, covering 1939-mid-1941. It will go to the printers in three days, and is due to be published on the 9th October by Wing Leader.

Hope you'll like the new volume! We will now concentrate on the NCA volumes for the second half of 1941 and 1942.
