Looking for a B24 airman's name
 

Hello everyone, I’m writing a story and looking for some information about a RAF airman.

All I know for now are details about his plane: serial 64383 given to RAF as Liberator V.VI EV980, which ran out of fuel and belly landed at Normetal, Quebec, Canada, on March 31, 1944. The plane was badly damaged and removed from service at that date.

I also found (wrong) logbook details which are wrong, since the dates of entry are later than the date of withdrawal from service.

Would you be kind enough to help me or let me know where I could search further? Thanks a million.

Hello,
The U.S serial number in full was 42-64383.
Apparently it was destined for the RAF in India.
If the Airman's name was Blunt, he was involved in Anson II, 7469 accident on the 24th March and died on the 31st.
If another airman then the name would perhaps be helpful.

Unless you're already involved, the topic is also discussed on Facebook ("Notre Normétal natal" as address.)

The picture of the Liberator has a further code under the cockpit: 30-113.

It appears that the aircraft was dismantled under some secrecy and whatever couldn't be removed, was burnt. Still, pieces can be found till this day.

Have no idea about Project Numbers. 30-113 on starboard side under cockpit window.

Found a little reference that Lib was with 112 Wing (Ferry Command) on its way to Newfoundland.

Thru Google Images picture of (presumably) the two pilots.

Alex must have referred to Leading Aircraftman George BRUNT, buried in Fort MacLeod, Alberta, with date of death 31/03/1944. He was in a crash with an Anson some days before.

Since Liberator mishap in Normétal, Quebec had no fatalities, I wonder if looking for an involvement of Brunt will be successful?
