Seenotstaffeln Activity 08 Nov 42, Channel Islands
Can anyone provide details of any activity north of Guernsey by Seenotstaffel 1, based at Brest, or Seenotstaffel 2, at Cherbourg, during 08 Nov 42. Did either of these units rescue any Allied airmen on this date in this area?

Wasn't November 8,1942 the date when P/O Amos of 140 Sq was shot down near the Channel islands?
According to the following quote from "The Silent War" by Frank Falla [p81], a narrative about the Channel islands: " One cheerful flier I was able to talk to in November 1942 was a young twenty two Australian pilot named Amos who baled out after some Messerschmitts had shot up his petrol tanks . He landed on some rocks and was making his way up the cliff when an islander redirected him just in time for he was walking into a minefield." |
