1st Bombardment Wing 28.08.1942
Only fourteen B-17s were on this raid, although eleven actually seem to have made the mission. Can anyone tell me which squadron or squadrons were involved?

97th BG according to Freeman's The Mighty Eighth War Diary but it doesn't say which squadron(s).

From what I have read, three a/c were damaged and one airman wounded in action.
If you have the formation leaders names then you will most likely have the Squadrons involved. 97 BG 340 BS; 341 BS; 342 BS and 414 BS. |

Cheers chaps. I now have identified a couple of aircraft on the mission
One was B-17F"Berlin Sleeper II"s/n 41-24370 342nd BS/97th BG and another was an unnames B-17F s/n 41-24344 414nd BS/97BG. It seems like it was a mixed formation |
