"Thum" operations BAFO 1946 - what were they
Hallo!
What were "Thum" operations flown by BAFO Mosquito BXVIs (98 Sqn at least) over Germany? Year IIRC 1946 for these. Thum is town in the ex- East Germany area near Czech border. This makes me think the Thum -operations were probing Soviet air defences but I may be way off the mark. Thanks in advance for interest. Cheers, Kari |

I think THUM flights are Met/weather recce flights
THUM might indicate Temperature and Humidity Someone will now prove me totally wrong Martin |

Hello!
Thanks. Did not think to that direction as the ORB usually writes "met climb" or "met ascent". Perhaps you are right, people (writers) and slang changed during pass of times. Cheers, Kari |

Re: "Thum" operations BAFO 1946 - what were they
So meaning of THUM confirmed.
BTW it was 14 Sqn which used THUM-term so it was D(id)N(ot)RC. Thank you gentlemen! Kari |
