Chaz Bowyer

I am not sure if this has already been reported here, but aviation author Chaz Bowyer passed away yesterday, 18 June, after a short illness. He was 81.

A great loss to our community - one of the founding fathers of RAF aviation history, in my opinion. His legacy is a fine collection of wonderful books.

RIP

Sad news indeed!
He did an incredible work, writing about the RAF. We will miss him and the books he would have liked to write. My most sincere simpathy to his family and friends.
As Brian said, with Hector Bolitho, Middlebrook and Nesbit, he is one of the fathers of RAF Aviation History. Thankfully there are a lot of the next generation coming to fill those losses; men such as Chris Goss and others.
Sincere condolensces to his family

His book "History of the RAF" was the very first aviation history book I ever bought. It made a very big impression on me as a youth, and I still have it. Very sad news.

Ray Sturtivant

Ray left us on 10 August at 84.
He was "the" specialist of the FAA and a nice guy.
