Li-equipped NJ Do217 crash at Eleusis in (late) September 1942?

Dear all,

I've received an ULTRA message of late September 1942 which mentions a Lichtenstein A/I-equipped Nachtjagd Do217 crash at Eleusis in (late?) September 1942, the a/c was piloted by an 'Ofw. Dingeldei'. Although the name does ring a bell with me I can't find anything on the man, nor on the exact date of the crash. Who can help?

Cheers and thanks, Theo

Hinkeldey? There was an Uffz Joachim Hinkeldey on 5./JG 53 who makes 2 kills then nothing afterwards

There are 73 people called "Dingeldey" with a 'y" in the German phone book and a number of businesses.

Thanks chaps for your replies -the ULTRA report literally states: "... the Do 217 of the night fighter detachment which crashed at Eleusis with Obfw. Dingeldei".

Cheers, Theo
