Losse B-17, February 16, 1943
Hello,
We have been searching for many years to identify the crash of a B-17, formally identified by a piece of wing and lately balls of 12.7 mm. The witnesses of the time gave us one or two killed in the bomber. We have just found a document from the prefecture of Morbihan sending a telegram to General Information and a report of the Special Commissioner dated 20/02/1943 in Rennes. February 16, 1943, commune of Brech, losse of aircracft, a death and four men saved in parachute. We have known and identified for a very long time the losses of the five B-17s on this list. The body of this man is not in France, probably repatriated to the USA. This loss is therefore unidentified to this day. At sea, Presqu'île de Crozon. B-17F-25-BO. "Spook". #41-24541. 32 km au nord de Bréhat. B-17F-5-DL. "Schack Hack". #42-2967. Molac "Le Favre". B-17F-30-BO. "The Hun Hunter". #42-5058. Guillac "La Ville Dan". B-17F-5- VE. #42-5717. Pleucadeuc "Etang de Gourvana". B-17F-27-BO. "Boomerang". #41-24611. |
