Josef Nabrich NJG101, NJG1

He scored twelve kills flying a He219 with NJG1 but what were the types he flew to claim his first seven kills? I know that NJG1 fllew both Do217 and Bf110.

Keith

Hello Alain57,

these informations correspond to the informations of Michael Balss in "Deutsche Nachtjagd".

The entries in the GenQu. loss reports are divergent.
Report from August 21, 1943 No. 71:
17.8. 1./NJG 1 Feindflug Flemalle bei Lüttich Absturz infolge Feindbeschuß
Bf 110 G-4 5559 100%.
F Uffz Fritz Heim verletzt, Bf Lt Josef Nabrich verletzt.

Correction from December 29, 1943, cipher w:
Lt Nabrich, Uffz Heim unverletzt. Streiche 2 Verletzte.

Re: Josef Nabrich NJG101, NJG1

Hello

Josef Nabrich (III./NJG 101, 3./NJG 1) had 17 nocturnal victories: one with the III./NJG 101, the other 16 with the 3./NJG 1 (not 3./NJG 3 nor 1./NJG 1). The first five of these were obtained in a Bf110G-4 (with exception of Nabrich's first victory), the following 12 victories were made with He219A-0's.

Nabrich was not injured on 17-8-1943 and continued to fly on operations with Oblt. Apel, the NO of the I./NJG 1 until he got a new Bordfunker, Fw. F.Habicht. When Nabrich, then Staffelkapitän 3./NJG 1, was killed by a strafing attack on 27th November 1944, Habicht became Bordfunker of Hptm. Graf Resseguièr de Miremont.

All the best, Marcel

Re: Josef Nabrich NJG101, NJG1

Hello Alain57,

I have found the GenQu. loss report from September 1, 1943 No. 30:

17.8. 3./NJG 1 Feindflug bei Tongern Absturz nach Luftkampf Flugzeugführer unverletzt Bf 110 G-4 5551 100% Bf Uffz Heim tot.

This is in contrast to the former entry, so that the statements from August 21 and December 29, 1943 are incomprehensible.

Bonjour Remi,

Josef Nabrich, then Staffelkapitän 3./NJG 1, was killed on 27th November 1944 when he was hit in the head by strafing fighterbombers of 2nd TAF. He drove near Warendorf, not far from Münster-Handorf A/F where the I./NJG 1 was stationed since they left Venlo A/F on 5th September 1944. Nabrich was buried at Münster-Lauheide war cemetary.

Bonne vacance ! Marcel
