Sgt Wesley Snoddon 77 Sqn?

Hi guys

I am aware that Sgt Snoddon and his 77 Squadron crew were lost on 13 March 1941.

However, Sgt Snoddon's Whitley had been shot down by friendly fire circa November/December 1940 (or maybe early 1941). He may not have been on 77 Squadron on this occasion; possibly a training unit?)

Can anyone provide actual date and additional details (serial number).

Cheers
Brian

BRIAN,

Sorry, but nothing on this name from July 1940 up to February 1941 on the Squadron ORB...so he either came on March 1941 and was shot down on his first mission...do not know...perhaps someone else can add more. Really sorry for not being able to help here....

Do you have a more precise DATE ???

Have checked the files and got no joy...perhaps I missed something by Reading quickly...perhaps this guy isn't a pilot, but was a 2nd. "Dickie" on his first missions with the Squadron...I was just checking the Captain's names on the documents...perhaps he was an Observer....what you do have more on him so we can try to help more precisely?

Hi Adriano

Thanks for the effort - my man was Samuel Wesley Snoddon lost on the night of 13/14 March 1941.

Since his name apparently does not appear in 77 Squadron ORB earlier, I can only assume that he was on a training flight with an OTU when shot down by friendly fire. I haven't access to Chorley's OTU losses.

Cheers

BRIAN,

Found the serial number, but sadly as informed do have nothing more from Official Sources (AIR 27)...Those I do have do finish on February....

At least we got the serial
