He111 TG30 shot down 18/8/43 off Sardinia?
 

Hi guys

Apparently a He111 of TG30 was shot down by RAF or US fighters off Sardinia on 18 August 1943.

Can anyone confirm this, please? Any relevant claims?

Brian-referring to the post on the other board it says engine failure, no mention of enemy aircraft

from my notes:
3 He111's were claimed by 153 Squadron on this date !
2 by S/Ldr.Willson and 1 by P/O.Moss
No details of location or time

Hi,

No fighter claims match this, that I am aware of, so engine failure is most likely. 153 Sqns three claims were near Bizerte just before midnight on night 18/19 August.

Disclaimer - I've downloaded it already, but, other than perusing the table of contents, I have not read it. It sits with a gazillion others in my "read these someday" folder. Not being related to the Pacific it has a lower priority for me.
