Re: Looking for two serial numbers

MACR 15489 has this as/c as been reported as MIA on the 17th November '43. So it would possibly qbe listed as a 17 November '43 MACR ?
The search lasted into December, but sadly nothing ever found.

As to Schoolmaster's P-47 there is nothing that stands out in the P47 Thunderbolt Database.
So any ideas ?

Re: Looking for two serial numbers

hello alex,

the following for schoolmaster:
Quote:

CASUALTIES NOT LISTED IN MACR
Major Schoolmaster, Clinton F. (P) 577th KILD*

Major Schoolmaster was one of the original cadre of Officers assigned to the 392nd as the Group went overseas to Wendling. He was the first Commanding Officer of the 577th Bomb Squadron and had just recently before this date been assigned up to the 14th Combat Wing Headquarters, as was the case of a few combat-seasoned senior Staff Officers of the Group as the air war progressed. On this date, Major Schoolmaster was performing a routine 14th CBW task of flying ‘formation’s monitor ship’ in a P-47 Thunderbolt fighter-type plane in checking over the Combat Wing’s (3) B-24 Groups "form up" over England to fly assigned missions this day.

Re: Looking for two serial numbers

Hello Marc,
Did you note the different date ?
The Wilmington link gives 2nd May ??
Wonder why, could it be that the later date -25th is when the report was completed ?
Many thanks for both links by the way, they give great info when searching :)
It is odd that the P47 Data site seems to have nothing either :(
