An interesting blending of a Fw 190 A-8 of I./JG 4 and a Bf 109 G-6 possibly of I./JG 3 seen in August 1944 at Lichtenau, Bavaria:

Re: eBay: German intrest
The biplane behind the Bulgarian pilot is a Go145 WNr. 1280 SA+IM (corrected), operated during summer 1941 by VSt 65.

Re: eBay: German intrest
Hi Gerhard
The Stkz in the foto ends with M so do you mean SA+IM for W/Nr.1280. SA+IW is also a Stkz for a Go145 - are you saying that this Stkz also was with VSt.65? Regards Tom |
Re: eBay: German intrest
Tom,
entry corrected |
Re: eBay: German intrest
Thanks Gerhard (and Tom!)
How is it I cannot recognize that aircraft when I see only part of it? Had it been shown in full, I wouldn't have hesitated a second.... BTW thanks also for the bonus details! Oh well, there is always a way to tell the pros from the cons...:D Cheers Stig |
Re: eBay: German intrest
Stig,
the small head rest behind the aft cockpit was typical for a Go 145 and it's WNr. is painted at the fin. |

Re: eBay: German intrest
I have seen at least two posts that stated the Luftwaffe did not use some type of ground padding (against mud, etc.) for aircraft like the British and Americans. This photo appears to show otherwise.

Re: eBay: German intrest
I have (as you Ed ) more then a few of these paddings. Even garden fences. But never paddings used to harden the runway. Hardstand yes, runway no
