German biplane captured 11/12.Aug.1942 near Leningrad
Hello,
according to the report of 189.SD, 23:50 11.Aug.42 "Biplane Fi126" (?) was damaged by small-arms fire and landed 300 meters in front of the frontline. Airmen had escaped but the plane was towed away at night by Soviet 9.Kp of 880.SR. The plane was almost unhurt, a bag with postal items, pilot's documents, a machine pistol, a flare gun, an officer's great-coat and officer's field jacket were captured. Any relevant info from the German side is interesting. Best regards, Andrey |

Hey Andrey
A FI126 did not exist. Either Henschel HS126 or Fieseler FI156 (Storch), but both were no biplanes. FI167 was a biplane, but a torpedo bomber. As far as I know the Germans did never use the same type number for planes of different manufacturers, i.e. JU88 and "DO88". There must be a mistake in this report. Regards Harry |

Hello Harry,
Quote:
I know it. The infantry did't knew the types well. It seems it was old-style high-wing monoplane like Fi156 or Hs126. Anyway the plane should appear in GQM returns as 100% loss. But I can't find it. Best regards, Andrey |
