Re: Pilot Help
Steve,
88245 F/O (Pilot) Donald Westbrook ALLEN RAFVR, was pilot of No.218 Sqn Stirling I N3712:HA-Y that was destroyed after a hung-up bomb exploded after landing (ex-Billancourt) at Marham, on 4 March, 1942 (BCL3/41). All the crew were injured, two dying later. Allen later transferred to A&SD*, and at the time of his death, on 9 June, 1945, his unit is given as - No.151 Repair Unit RAF, which was stationed at Courtrai in Belgium, and was controlled by 2 TAF. He is simply noted (by Chris Hobson, in Failed to Return Part 2, A-B/p.91), as "Died", implying accident/illness. * https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/...35868/page/390 Col. |
