AIR 39/35 Combat reports, Army Co-operation Command

Hi,

When checking the files of Army Co-operation Command I found AIR 39/35 Combat reports (1941 Nov. - 1943 May.). I checked the available combat reports from the squadrons of Army Co-op Command in AIR 50:
  • 1941 – 0 CR
  • 1942 (excluding 309 Sqn as these seems to from 303 Sqn) – 9 CRs
  • 1943 (to the end of May) - 16 CRs

It seems at least the report/-s from 1941 in AIR 39/35 are unique and any report from this period is most probably from the operations with Tomahawk.
Is there anyone with experience of this file or has the possibility to check at Kew if there are many combat reports in AIR 39/35 that are not available in AIR50? I may order copies from the file if it contains enough unique reports.

Regards,
Peter

Peter,

I will pull it on Tuesday, and check. Probably just copy it.

Enjoy!

Frank.

Frank.

The benefits of having a man on the spot! Hope you have a productive visit to Kew.

Well, staying on Defoe Avenue does make the 3 minute walk (used to be 2 minutes, but -- older, slower) very nice, especially if I have forgotten something in my room. Next visit however I may have to stay nearer Yeovelton, since most of the FAA ORBs seem to be there, rather than at the PRO. That is probably up to five years away, and I may be feeling ten years older by then.

Enjoy!

Frank.

Near Yeovilton? Check Google Earth. Yeovilton itself (pop. 1226), Ilchester (pop. 4319), Limington, Speckington, Bridgehampton and Podimore will all present quite a contrast to Kew. Yeovil is bigger (pop. 45000) but a bit further to walk—6 miles—than Defoe Avenue to TNA.

Frank,

Thank you, much appreciated.

I don’t want to push my luck but if you have a minute over at Kew I hope you can check the content of AIR 37/1065 SHAEF (MAIN AND REAR): Combat and miscellaneous reports, 1944 – 1945. AIR 37 = Allied Expeditionary Air Force, later Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (Air), and 2nd Tactical Air Force: Registered Files and Reports

I am especially interested to know if there is anything from 2 and 38 Groups.

Regards
Peter
