LW losses on 30/31 March 1944 night
Good night to all!
I do have the excellent book of Mr Middlebrook about the Nuremberg Raid. I would like to obtain, if possible, more information about the LW night-fighter losses that night. It seems that a single seat night-fighter was lost just before the target ( possibly a JG 300 machine ). I am particularly interested on the second LW loss, that ocurred a bit down to the south of Nuremberg. Middlebrook´s book mentions it, but we, sadly, do not have further additional information such as: 1- Squadron involved 2- type of machine ( Bf 110 G or Ju 88 ) 3- Crew´s name 4- Hour of combat. There is only a single swatika marking the possible position of this loss around the Nuremberg area. I would be very grateful if someone could inform me more about this particular loss that night. Thanks in advance Adriano Baumgartner |

Hi Steve!
Thanks a lot! Just what I was looking for... A Halifax crew reported a combat with a twin-engined night-fighter that they identified as being a Me 210. It probably was the Ju 88 C-6 shot down that night! Thanks for your help! PS: Very few losses compared to the nightmare they caused to the Bomber Command that night! Adriano |
