What does the black(?) 'ball'mean in front of the code 01 + 14 ???
I have also seen a simular sign on a photo of a JU-52 with the code 02 + 34... Who know's the answer?
I believe that the photo was taken in 1938-1939...
01 + might stands for Kampfgruppe z.b.V 1 (their code changed to 1 Z in 1940...) But my main interest is the meaning of what look like a black 'ball'.
Hope some one can help!

Ju-52 Legion Condor

hello Pietje
I would think that this Ju-52 belonged to Legion Condor during the Spanish conflict. The black "ball" was the distinctive of Legion Condor. Please check the link
http://usuarios.lycos.es/mrvalverde/GC13501.HTM of more Ju-52 from this legion.

The Condor Legion had on both sides of the 'bal' his code numbers and was much bigger, on the photo the 'bal' is placed infront of the code and is much smaller, while there is also a cross, the kind of cross indicates that the photo was taken later (1938?...)
