Re: Fonthill Media
It was published indeed. On Friday I received a note from the bookshop where I ordered my copy that it's waiting. Now I'm only waiting for First of the Few.

Re: Fonthill Media
Received mine on Monday. Just from a quick glance through it is very impressive.
Having read the first few pages the writing style is engaging and free flowing, the book is contains many photo's and in the appendix there is a history of all manufactured Whirlwinds. Brilliant. Can't wait for the weekend. Am going to find a quiet spot in the garden and settle down and read through it come what may! |
Re: Fonthill Media
Does it have test reports etc.?
|
Re: Fonthill Media
Per se, no.
However it nevertheless does go into quite some detail on the development of the Whirlwind eg Chapter 2 'Contenders and Prototypes', and Chapter 3 'Perfecting the Whirlwind'. And Appendix 2 'The Whirlwind Uncovered' provides very specific detail of the make-up and effectiveness of the aircraft components through specific sections eg Fuselage, Wing, Flying Controls, Armament, Hydraulics, Fuel System, Radio, Weights and Performance, Roll-Royce Peregrine, and some basic technical data. |
Re: Fonthill Media
By your estimate, how much of the book concerns Whirlwind design, development and engineering stuff, how much operational narrative ("X number of Whirlwinds took off at XXXX hrs and did this and that."?

Re: Fonthill Media
