Research Section Launched!

Dear fellow Luftwaffe enthusiast

A new section has opened on airwarpublications.com ... the 'Research Section'. The material in this area is available for all, but is focused on helping researchers of the European air war during the Second World War. The files are freely available for download here: The Research Section

The first major batch of material concerns German aircraft production, and Air War Publications is very pleased to host Nigel Moore's German aircraft production lists. Nigel's material will be released over the coming months and years, beginning with selected manufacturers’ construction sequences addressing Werknummer assignments in the sub-10.000 ranges:
  • Training Aircraft - First Generation (1930-33): He42, Fw44 and He72
  • Training Aircraft - Single-Seater: Fw56, Ar76 and others
  • Reconnaissance Aircraft - Land-Based: He45, He46, He70, Hs126
  • Reconnaissance Aircraft - Maritime: He60, He114, He59, He115, Ar95
  • Biplane Fighters: He51, Ar64, Ar65, Ar68
  • Training Aircraft - Second Generation (1934-38): Fw58, Go145
  • Two-Seater Dive-Bombers: He50, Ju87A/B/R
  • Ground-Attack Aircraft: Hs129
  • Utility Aircraft: Bf108
  • Bombers: Do17, Do215, He111 (Stufenkanzel)
  • Fighters: Bf109 prototypes and A to E variants
These lists are the result of many years of painstaking work. However, Nigel considers them as starting points for further discussion, and not the final word on the subject. Thus he welcomes feedback, comments and additions. Contact information for Nigel can be found here: German Aircraft Production

Another part of the Research Section features short texts outlining the histories of four small Luftwaffe units. These brief unit histories are the result of a collaboration between Larry deZeng and Andrew Arthy. Whenever photographic material is available it will be included. There are a dozen more unit histories in the pipeline, and they will be released as they are completed.

Also coming up are various files and lists covering operational aspects of the European air war, including a work-in-progress list of Luftwaffe claims for damaged and sunk Allied ships.

We hope you will find some of the material interesting.
Enjoy!

All the best
On behalf of the Air War Publications team
Morten

Looks very interesting Morten

The way you have set this up I cannot open them with Open Office.
Any chance you can include that as well?

Cheers
Stig

Morten,

Many thanks to you all for the articles.

Will read with interest those by Andrew and Larry.

Neil's lists will be a useful resource going forward.

Also downloaded the Anti Shipping list produced by Adam T and Andrew - if we have additions or corrections how do you want to receive them?

Stig - the lists open fine in Libre Office (another open source Office application).

Hej Stig and Andy

Thanks for your comments.

At the moment there are no plans for multiple formats. Nor in the near future ... this is mainly due to me having bought a house for which I get the keys next week :-) We will take file formats into account when moving forward.

@Andy
Please write us via the contact form (Link), then we can establish email contact and take it from there.

Have a nice weekend!
Morten

Re: Research Section Launched!

OK Morten

Could someone then please onforward these attachments to me please?
Makes no difference if they are sent as word, since I can easily transfer them to Open Office.

The problem is the middle stage used by Morten where we have to make an acceptance of the rules. Due to this I cannot download anything before the word file starts to open.

Cheers
Stig

This is a great - and ambitious - project! Publishing databases on-line, to the benefit of all researchers, is something rare. Many, many thanks for your time, effort and generosity.
I will certainly follow the site closely, so I can learn (e.g., I am looking forward to understand the difference between He 100 and He 113, as they are listed separately in the plans), and perhaps even contribute to this project.
Carry on, gentlemen!

Great section, looking forward for more  .

Stig, I'm not sure if you are talking about the spreadsheet or the pdf document but you can download a free, open source pdf viewer (not to mention it is faster, smaller than any of its competitors) here
: https://www.sumatrapdfreader.org/free-pdf-reader.html

Works also for ebooks & comics and remember were you stopped your reading.

Anyway, downloading the files have nothing to do with the way/sowtfare to open it, more linked to your browser's parameters.
