Ivan Nikiforovich Stepanenko

Hello there Gentlemen,

did Ivan Stepanenko fly a Yak-1 on 1Aug1943 as indicated on this website
http://soviet-aces-1936-53.ru/abc/s/stepanen.htm
or already a Yak-9 as implied by Mellinger in "Yakovlev Aces of World War 2" ?

...he is the 6th ranking Yakovlev ace and presumably the top Yak-9 pilot. The latter is a little bit hard to believe for me because so many Yak-9's were built and his score in that type was only 21,25 kills.
