Mysterious loss of Major Wilhelm Knapp

Hello Friends!
I´m looking for any details about the loss of Major Wilhelm Knapp, a reconnaissance-unit-commander, who was a holder of the Knights Cross. He died on 10th June 1944. Some sources say that his plane (maybe Ju188) crashed by night near the village Obernau (near Giessen,West Germany). But which Obernau can it be, there it gives more than one villages with this name.
His unknown crew died in the crash, too.
The most of the graves of the Knights Cross Holders are known, but not the grave of Wilhelm Knapp. No one can say me what happened with him on this day.

Can anyone help me with some details of the mysterious end of Wilhelm Knapp?
